Most of Canada is open now for internal travel except for a few isolated spots that are still restricted.  However there is speculation that June 22 is possible but more likely July 21.  I think they want to keep us all home until all the kiddos are out of school.
However,  I can't see how the border can stay closed much longer, Manitoba is over 70% of 12 year's and up vaccinated at this point with at least 1 dose and the second doses are being given everywhere.  Both hubby and I have our second dose as do our kids.  Only the grandchildren haven't had their second dose.  There are a couple of provinces (Ontario & Newfoundland & Labrador that are a bit further behind but everyone else is doing well.
    So cross your fingers !!!

djsamuel reacted to Lou... in What happened to the customer service at WDW?
They had changed the main entrance passes and never sent me the new cards so the old cards were useless when I got to WDW. I contacted them after I got back and I have them now. I haven't bothered to check where I stand on my comp tickets yet.
I submitted the snack coupon request twice and got nothing. I actually wanted the dining coupons more because we were having dinner with Dave and Linda, aka Grumpy and Grandma. It wasn't a big deal because I got the 40% regular CM discount instead of the 50% Celebration discount.

I lived in central Florida next to WDW for decades and now that I've lived in cold weather country for two winters, the Atlanta area, I really miss the Florida winters. However, while there I've seen ice, rain and lots of sunshine in Jan. As Forest Gump said, you never know whatcha gonna get.

I too have heard it’s beautiful.  My end game with Glacier, was Banff.  But, who knows when travel into Canada will relax.  We had reservations for both Banff and Glacier last year, but when the border and east Glacier closed, we opted for Devils Tower, Yellowstone, the Tetons and Mt. Rushmore instead (all of which, were FANTASTIC ❤️).  North Dakota should be interesting and another “state sticker” for our RV map ☺️
    Haha...will do!😄

Desantis wanted local control when it suited him as a means to avoid a decision on a mask mandate.  I thought local control was a good idea.  Then he pulled the rug out from everybody when it was politically expedient to do so by telling local governments they cannot enforce the very rules he said they are the best to decide on.  He also required bars to incorporate very expensive precautions in order to reopen and then one week later issued a huge "never mind" and told everybody they could fully open.  Bar owners were not happy and most continued to adhere to some level of precaution.
I too prefer small government and I voted for Desantis.  I never will again.  He is too wrapped up with building his brand.
As far as masks, all I will say is there is a reason surgeons wear masks in surgery, including cloth ones.  It is to protect the patient much like wearing a mask now is not to protect the wearer but to diffuse the air exhaled by a person and limit the distance any airborne viruses may spread. Imagine you were throwing a golf ball at a wall 30 feet away.  With no barrier, you would hit it every time.  Put a chain link fence up between you and the wall, and maybe only about 20% or less of the balls you throw would make it to the wall.  That is all a mask does.
I'm not interesting in debating but I wanted to give another side to this since you mentioned it.  I'm done with this conversation.

Agreed.  When possible, I love staying inside the National Parks.  My favorite time of the day is sunrise and with the Grand Canyon being so, incredibly, large.... staying inside the park was really the only way I was going to get my butt to the canyon's rim in time to see the sun come up

Desantis never had a state wide mask mandate.  When he was still of a somewhat sane mind, he said that because Florida was so large, each county should decide if they should mandate masks.  Then, he reopened the state, and made the ruling that no county or local government could level any punishment for violating a local mask mandate, persons or businesses.  Very hypocritical in the sense that he used local jurisdiction as a means to avoid being the person mandating masks and then turns around and bans the enforcement of any local decisions regarding masks.  The only thing that has limited the rise is the fact that most people continue to wear masks and ignore him.  Here in Clermont, if you go into a store, 99% of the people are still wearing masks.  Lake County never had a mask mandate and the vast majority of people still are wearing masks.
Orange County is looking at gradually lifting the mask mandate by the end of the summer based on vaccinations and infections.  At that point, I would not be surprised to see Disney lift the mask requirements.

Also a big Wawa fan, when I drove tractor trailer for UPS it was at least twice a night stop for coffee. On a side note I am even a bigger fan of Wawa as my dad was a delivery driver back in the VERY early days to houses when I was born so I tell everyone I am the milkman's baby

Disney doesn't have to follow relaxed guidelines.

We have a county just N of Tampa that did away with the county ordinance about wearing masks last week.
I noticed a couple independent stores took down their signs, but Lowes, Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart etc still enforce mask wearing.

Even the Facebook groups related to Fort Wilderness have really slowed down.  I think the pricing and the difficulty getting reservations while there are so many new RVs has taken some of the appeal away.

For me, we've actually lost some interest in Disney and the Fort. The uptick in prices, the fact that we can no longer buy an annual pass at present, and the pandemic, has put a damper on our enthusiasm for things Disney. (Especially since we just traveled cross country for three weeks, for less than a week at the Fort)

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for the prima donnas who say "NO" because they aren't getting their "OLD" job back.  Many years ago I changed jobs and took a cut in pay because cuts were coming.  Best thing I ever did....the new position opened up a great opportunity and I never looked back..
