Dropped my wife off at work this morning around 6:30AM at DU.  Driving past Magic Kingdom, you could see the castle all lit up for Christmas.  Looked great as usual.  I assume they were testing the lights.

    7) The location:
Walt Disney world resort is located in the heart of Florida: Orlando. Actually, the address is Lake Buena Vista, FL

    6) The environment:
Walt Disney world has earned the nickname of being the “Happiest Place on Earth.” As far as working environments go, that sounds pretty hard to beat. The upscale, high-energy, theme park setting is wonderful for any employee. One of my personal favorite parts of working here is the fact that everyday will be new and another exciting experience with a whole new group of people… which brings me to the next point.  This person is obviously  not talking about back stage jobs.

    .

    2) The benefits:
Apart from basic job benefits including medical insurance, ample vacation time,  2 weeks, after a year, when I worked WDW and retirement plans, the rewards (both mental and physical) go “to infinity and beyond.” Every Walt Disney world employee receives free admission to the parks for anytime they want. Except for the block out days.  Tho maybe if it's just the CM going in, they are allowed to enter any time?  Even when it comes to the entertainment industry they will never lay you off.  Excuse me?  I know this is not true. They will do whatever they can to keep you employed. When Disney can no longer use someone for a face character, (Princesses, Gaston, etc.), they will still keep them employed doing other entertainment duties.

See ya, monstrosity that shouldn't have ever been there in the first place.
Now how long for the other shoe to drop? I'm not sayin nuthin, can't, but someone else might.

    Yup.

    It really happened.

People sometimes get offended when I say that the Fort is managed by idiots.

But, what else can you call them?

These folks were set up on the 2000 loop, which doesn't even provide for wastewater disposal, and the site they were set up in backed up to a main road, which is where I took my photo from.  What they were doing was plainly visible.  And, this was during Thanksgiving week, so the idiot Rangers were out in force.  Nobody stopped this.

Which is no surprise.  Anyone remember this gem from a FortPartyof4 Trip Report?:

Not only is that guy dumping black waste water on the ground, he has broken the most sacred rule of all- he has not one, but two tires off the pavement.

The Fort is managed by idiots.

I used to LOVE eating at Akershus before they added the princesses. Very yummy, very nice atmosphere. When I heard the princesses were coming for all meals, I made a point to eat there and specifically told the manager I wouldn't be back.

    That it does.
And if nothing else, it sounds positive, and that's what we want to convey about the wonderful entertainment offerings at Epcot.

You were paid a visit by one of the Fort Rangers.

The idiots in charge send these guys around to harass the paying customers with their little love notes.

The idiot Rangers will drive right past a kid driving a golf cart in order to issue you a warning for having a tire on the dirt.

    Magical.

I was worried that it wouldn't come across.
Fair warning though, don't watch the lumberjack show and the guys in tights waving flags in the same day. There's only so much hi quality entertainment that the human brain can absorb. Pace yourselves, less is more.

I agree that you should break up the vacations as there is just to much to see in one trip.  We did the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon and Flagstaff and it took two weeks not counting travel time to get there.  Our best trip was to the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone.  We went in early June and all the Bears had just come out of hibernation and looking for food.  The Tettons and Jackson Wyoming plus a side trip to Cody took us away from home for almost 3 months.  The thing about the Grand Canyon is that you can't just go and look at it.  You need to stop and experience the sunset from the east entrance.

Monument Valley is amazing!  It never got old - no matter how many time I visited that area.  The Four Corners area is very much a tourist trap, when I was there 20 years ago.  That may have changed since then but how often can you go somewhere and stand in one spot and say you are standing in four state at one time?

Just got back a few weeks ago from a trip from Florida to the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, and Canyonlands National Park.  It was a great trip.  It was our third trip to the canyon (2 times south rim and once north rim) and second time to Arches.  All stops were fanatastic and are not to be missed.

Wrote a short trip report and added links to more pictures here:

    http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/13874-florida-to-arizona-and-utah/

Do yourself a favor and make reservations to stay at Trailer Village inside the Grand Canyon National Park (assuming you're taking a camper).

We've been to Yellowstone about 12 years ago, but stayed in the Old Faithful Inn.  It was also a great place to go.

There are so many parks to see between Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, you may want to think about breaking it into two or more trips.  Around the Grand Canyon you could see (in addition to the Canyon), Petriefied Forest National Park, Walnut Creek Canyon, Meteor Crater, Meesa Verde National Park in Colorado, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks in Moab, UT, Bryce and Zion National Parks (a bit longer drive, but still a lot closer than Yellowstone), Durango/Silverton Railroad in Colorado, and a lot more.

Around Yellowstone, you could see Grand Tetons National Park, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Devils Tower, Badlands national Park, Custer State Park, Fort Laramie, and a lot more.

Plenty to see and do in that area of the country.

djsamuel reacted to devores in What is your perception vs reality of being a CM
Being a CM isnt about loving Disney. Your love for all things Disney will wear off quickly if you do not have a passion for serving the guest and ensuring they have the most magical vacation ever.

While being a leader in the entertainment industry, the underlying product of Disney is serving the guest. It is a service industry just like a waiter or waitress. The end goal is the same, provide the best service to your customer possible.

Ive seen many a people leave the company when they realize this. And yes, allot of people think its all pixi dust and wishes. The reality, CMs dont even have MBs yet........
