You can stop in a Franck's next to the wedding chapel.  They can give you some printed info.  My daughter gets married there on April 6th.  It does not have to be as expensive as people think.

I know nothing about Good Sam ratings, but I think it's interesting/amusing/a little sad that not having WiFi in a campground could lower the rating. Who would have thunk that about 10 years ago!

Construction is supposed to start in about 1 to 2 weeks at the "old" 3 way..They are going to add a walkway to the right (as you face the Settlement) that will merge about 20 to 30 feet past the stop sign with the cart path.(the wood wall and mound get leveled out)This will eliminate the pedestrian/GC congestion right at the road. According to the contractor there are other small walkway projects that are to be done involving similar types of improvements. This one is the only one currently under contract.
Rumor is that a seperate sidewalk may eventually run parallel to the cart path. Supposedly the various changes/improvements are part of the final resolution with the family of the boy that got killed by the bus several years ago.

As long as they follow Florida traffic regulations, anyone is free to use the roadways at WDW for cycling, walking, or jogging, but I cringe whenever I see it.
It's not a good idea to do any of those activities for the reasons TCD mentioned.

In my opinion, that is a very bad idea.

WDW roads are not the slightest bit bicycle friendly. The main drag in front of the Fort, Vista Blvd., is one lane in each direction.  There is no paved shoulder.  The white line on the outside of each lane is maybe 4" from the edge of the pavement.  That road is heavily traveled by Disney buses, folks coming to and from the Fort in RV's, and countless clueless tourists in rental cars not paying attention to what they're doing.  Not a very smart place to be trying to ride a bike.

    Here's some food for thought. . .

Do you know how many pet-friendly campsites there are at the Fort vs. non-pet sites?

    I just counted them up.

483 of the 799 campsites are on pet-friendly loops.

    That's just over 60%.

Seems like that's plenty enough that they don't need to let guests with pets stay on the non-pet loops.

This could all be solved by clearly stating the rules on the website, and enforcing those rules. It's not rocket science.

So true and so, so sad.  I bet Mr. Disney is turning over in his grave...from all I've read and watched on him, he was a man who yes, wanted to make a buck (a lot of them) but he valued people.

What this all comes down to, is people's lack of respect for others.  Yes, my sweet girl is very afraid of dogs...but if (all) dog owners respected other people and made sure their animals were taken care of (kenneled or in the RV during the day when they are at the park or always on a leash and not allowed to bark incessantly) then the concern for a non-pet loop wouldn't be as huge.  If you respect others enough, to not bring an aggressive animal to the campground and if you cleaned up after the animals that you did bring... then this issue would (my guess) all but go away.
But... people no longer respect other people.  The same as with the example of the teenagers being reckless on the golf carts... my dad would have come close to beating the living crap out of me if I was so disrespectful to others.  Or heck, the grown adults who have had too much to drink and act likes idiots on their golf cart or are way too loud at their campsite... no respect for others.

As for Disney stepping up and enforcing the rules....much needed. Didn't I read somewhere that a new GM took over in the last year or so...? Has that helped at all??

I've seen a few reports over the years of people reporting dogs in non-pet loops where the people with the dog were actually asked to board the dog or move.  I can't substantiate the reports but they were reportedly cases where people had snuck the dog in, not where they were assigned those sites by Disney, knowing full well they had a dog.  These reports are rare.

More often what I've seen reported is that the person that called in the complaint was given the option of moving to another loop.

    Huh?!?!

So the person breaking the rules has no consequences, and the person who's just trying to enjoy their vacation has to pull up stakes and relocate.

    Makes no sense.

Disney needs a clear and consistent pet policy, and they need to enforce it.  Other campgrounds with far less staff and resources do it all the time.

If they want to designate pet/non-pet loops (and I think they should for all the reasons that have been discussed) they should allow guests to easily reserve whichever they want when they book.  Want a pet loop and they're fully booked?  Then you know that when you make your reservation, and you decide to either leave your pet at home or board there.

    It's really not rocket science.

But then again, we're talking about management that is notorious for making rules that are often vague, inconsistently noted, and randomly enforced.

Welcome Dalspot. I third that. My first trip I powered through just as if I'd stayed at one of the other resorts. The Fort is meant to be savored. Slow down. Smell the roses.

    Save your money.

We've had waterpark passes at the same time we had AP's, and there just isn't enough time in the day.

Your kids are too young to enjoy all of the water park attractions.  Not worth spending the extra $$ for as little as you would be able to use the waterparks at this stage.  You really aren't going to want to go at all in February anyway.

    Wait a few years.

We have been going to the Ft for over 30 years. back when they had the trams going thru the loops instead of buses. And long before pets were even allowed to camp. Even up to 10 years ago, guest abided by the rules. This is what gets me. They can't even enforce the rules of I vehicle in the parking lot, or those smelly golf carts. Now it seems to be the pets. Why can't people just follow the rules. This is when it gets out of hand cuz people want to do what that want. These are the same people who don't understand why their children do not listen.

One problem with this suggestion is that the Disney site doesn't even ask if you're bringing a pet when you make your own reservation on-line.  Someone who has never visited the Fort and made an on-line reservation wouldn't even know that there are pet loops.  I have always been asked if I had pets with me at check in, including the three most recent check-in's I had in the September-December 2013 time frame. This pet thing is another instance where the idiots who run the Fort have dropped the ball.  It wouldn't be hard to have a clear policy and enforce it.  They could do it as you suggest if they wanted to.  But apparently, they don't care.

There is an override of the system that guests have figured out as well.  If you do it once, it wipes out the time constraints in your RFID on refillable mugs...essentially making them "forever mugs".

What you have to do is....place your mug under the Coca Cola spigot.  Once it starts dispensing, quickly move it to the Sprite spigot, count to 3 (not quickly...say one thousand between each number), then to Coke Zero, where you count to 5.  Then move your mug under the Barq's root beer spigot very briefly, not even a second, then over to Fanta Orange.  While the mug is underneath the Fanta spigot, you have to close your eyes and say three times "soda is bad for you....soda is bad for you...soda is bad for you".  Then dump your cup and get a glass of water.

I think their staff is hit and miss.  Seems like everywhere I went there were more awesome cm's with one ding dong. Almost like they have to throw an idiot in to be politically correct.  When we checked in, My husband, myself and baby were outside our bus checking in, when Jim went back to get something out, the door would not open. Something in the lock had broken and if you have ever seen a Prevost you will know there is no getting in from the outside. Leaving us stuck in the check in line with us outside and my Mom and Daughter stuck inside. During all this, the check in ladies held our baby, got me a chair, got a ladder, water, closed the lane so we would not tick anyone off ect...  they were so nice.                                                                                                                           When we first hooked up, we had no power.  Withing 30 minutes there was a crew there to help. And technically we were not supposed to be in our site yet.   My husband is not a good "Wait for the text kinda guy" we got the text saying our site was ready 5 1/2 hours after we were already in it.
When I had to go to the Customer Service counter because our bands would not work we got a very nice lady who took our bands looked at our keycards did something on the computer and said we were all set. Next day I was back because we still could do no charging with our bands or cards for some reason ( but we could get a snack on the DP) Boy the Park missed an opportunity that day! This time I got a very nice lady with a brain and took the time to make us new cards and whatever she did on the computer worked. Now we could open doors with our cards, charge with cards and bands ect...When I was waiting for her to finish there was a guy to my left with an British accent? Complaining that he had spent more of his vacation in the customer service lines then he did "enjoying what was supposed to be his 2 weeks of heaven" He was VERY loud and VERY upset, they brought out what I assume was the manager of the resort? and they took him in the back room.  They probably had him wacked.  I never saw him again.
I went back the day after that to pick up a package for my Mom and the awesome lady came right over to me in line thinking things still we not working. She was so nice.
So, I still feel there are more awesome CM's then ding dongs.

Many, many campgrounds have issues with weekend shenanigans.  Unlike Disney, a majority of those campgrounds patrol, take complaints seriously, and remove offending parties from the premises.  Disney needs to grow a pair, realize that they cannot please everyone, enlist the help of OCSO more frequently, and start removing the asshats to keep the place a pleasant and magical destination for the families that choose to enjoy the Fort for a good, old-fashioned camping experience.

I will agree for the most part about the locals on the weekends. I consider myself a local since we live in Tampa but me and my family were raised with respect which the majority of the world ignores nowadays. We have noticed there are more fort rangers on duty but what is a older heavy set woman going to do chasing some unrulely kids....nothing. We miss the days before our kids were in school because we would try to check in on Sunday morning then check out the following Saturday. We have been here since Tuesday and I have to laugh at a the "Duck commander" wannabes. I like camo as much as the next guy but people driving these carts with no mufflers, doing donuts on the beach during the EWP and just being plain rude. I am definately writing a letter this time to Disney about this past week. Many of you know I am more negative than positive but my bark is worse than my bite...lol. All these shenanigans need to be monitored more. You can't change people's attitude but they could enforce rules at least. With the kids in school now, we need to follow school and holiday schedules which means if we are fort bound, it will be during these hectic times

We are here now and this year we have run into much more less desirable individuals than in the past. People have been much more rude and shady but I guess you always see this kind more at holidays and peak times. We never bring the charger to the marina since I heard that's just asking for it to be stolen
