Looks like a good option also! Thanks!!

Pop Quiz Answers -

  1. Francis Scott Key was on a British Naval Vessel for the bombardment of Fort McHenry.
  2. He was trying to negogiate a prisoner release.
  3. There are Four Stanzas
  4. Somewhat of a trick question... he was inspired by dawn but who know how long it actually took him to write it. 1812 would be the year.
  5. March 3, 1931 by congressional resolution
  6. Anacreon in Heaven
  7. It has 15 stars and 15 stripes unlike the flag we have today with it's 13 stripes and 50 stars.

By the way, I knew none of the above until our trip to Fort McHenry.

And now we return to our regularly scheduled TR -

A word to the wise, if you participate in the Flag Talk at Fort McHenry I strongly urge you to get in the FRONT of the line so you will be at the Stars end. You see a little know fact about the all Stripes end... this is where 99% of the bird poop ends up. FYI - It's all on you now!

Fort McHenry was an active military base long past the War of 1812. It was used as a Prison site during the Civil War. It was used as a hospital during WWI. It was a United States Coast Guard Station during WWII. Fort McHenry was turned over to the National Park service in 1925. Fourteen years later it was redesigned as a National Monument and Historic Shrine. How many of NPS parks have this designation? The prize is, once again, an unauthorized hug from Lou.

Disclaimer: This is an unauthorized hug from Lou. I am not responsible should you be slapped with a restraining order for stalking from Lou's Lawyer when trying to claim your prize.

Hey how come Lou reads your trip report? I am thinking it has something to do with apple pie.

I love Fort McHenry. My eyes always leak at the end of the movie shown there. Want to know the saddest thing? I lived in the Baltimore area (Columbia and Odenton) for 18 years and it was not until after we moved to Alabama that I actually went to visit the Fort. Now when I go back to visit I try to get there as much as possible.

I knew all the answers, wanna buy a bridge, but I'm not collecting a cushy pension from a company that we had to bail out recently or sending multiple daughters out to work in order to support me, so I didn't get a chance to answer them because I was slaving away.

He doesn't actually read them. he just browses in hopes I will post a picture of said pie.

Don't feel bad we lived in the Jersey/NYC area for 2 years. We only saw touristy stuff when others wanted to see it. Have yet to step foot on Liberty or Ellis Island, the Empire State Building or top of the Rock.

Well here are a few just for you -

  1. Why were the 15 stars and stripes on the Fort McHenry Flag?
  2. Who sewed the original Fort McHenry Flag?
  3. What was the name of the Commander of Fort McHenry during the Battle?
  4. What Ship was Francis Scott Key detained on?
