Roberta got a reaction from Ivy in Free 9 month old German shepherd
    It's been a minute. 🙂

Just a quick update to this story. Our beautiful girl, Addie, will be 6 years old in April! Time flies by so fast. Addie has been such a blessing to our lives, we love her very, very much. She is a joy to everyone who meets here, after they get over their initial fear. She looks very intimidating, running up to someone to say hello, but she is a sweetie, and that's all she is trying to do.

She's such a good girl. I've had a fifth grandchild, my first girl, who is four years old now. She lives here on the same property with us and despite the enormous size difference, Addie has been taking orders from her since she was old enough to talk.

Of course all of our grandchildren have been taught respect for our animals, since birth. They don't pull hair or tails, or get in animals' space. But Ms. Tiny-Mite does know Addie's commands and uses them effectively.

As gentle and amazing as Addie is with children, and our friends & family, she is also a wonderful protection dog. NOBODY that she doesn't know will be allowed anywhere near the children. She's not crazy about strangers around us, either, but she behaves when we tell her to.

I'm so thankful for both us and Addie that Andrew chose us to be her family. She does have separation anxiety, which was why she ate Andrew's new fifth wheel. 🤣 We are a perfect family for that because there is always someone here. We have three homes on our property now, with nine family members living here. Addie is very rarely alone, probably not more than an hour in the past couple of years. That would be difficult to do for most families.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my brag post. We lost one of our feral cats on Saturday, so I'm feeling emotional about our babies. ❤️

After a weekend of catching up on vehicle oil changes. Two Jetta's. golf cart, wife's Trailblazer, two dirt bikes and my service truck.
My wife came in the house super excited after work yesterday after she found the "hidden Mickey" I made for her to find on the garage floor.
OH BOY !! September 23rd can't come soon enough or she may need an intervention.

Yes, she has been there for a long time. I know of her, but haven't met her personally. There are some in the Fort interwebz groups that really like her, there are some in the Fort interwebz group that really dislike her.
Jason Adams is just as knowledgeable as anyone else, he participates and sponsors Fort Fiends.
    Simply, he is THE MAN!!
(Please remove Hilda's phone number from you post, we don't want to be accused of allowing those that troll the interwebz and due harm to have her personal information).

Roberta got a reaction from Gigi in Stopping place north of the Fort on 75
I live in Lake City and we have some very nice state parks just a few miles off 75.

Stephen Foster (not to be confused with the one in GA) is usually easy to get reservations at and has quite a few nice, big pull through sites so you don't have to unhook. It's 3 miles off 75.

O'leno State Park is a bit more difficult to get reservations. Once again, just off 75. They don't have any pull through sites, and the Dogwood Loop is a bit tight. Magnolia Loop is much bigger for larger RVs and level.

Paynes Prairie is in Gainesville, also just a few miles off 75. I've only camped there once, so can't remember the loop names or if there are pull through sites.

All of our state parks will take reservations up to 11 months in advance. Late arrivals are not a problem, just call and get the gate code.

Even for an overnight, I would rather stay at any of these than the "field" RV parks. Cheaper, nicer, and more safe - in my opinion.

I'm not affiliated with this group, nor have I used their CentraCare facilities.  I have used Florida Hospital who runs the CentraCare offices and they are top notch.
I was looking into using one of these for my aunt who fell and cut her leg, but she was adamant about going to the ER (she's 99 and pretty set in her ways).

While I was checking hours, etc I came across this page which may be of interest to WDW visitors.

It was a lot of fun and not crazy. We only had about 300 - 400 TOT'ers. Didn't see any crazy traffic jams like I expected to see. Took the kids to four different loops and all were tame and easy. There were so many fun and friendly people. We even had a girl play a song from Beauty and the Beast on her violin for us. She was fantastic! That just shows how unhurried it all was.

Roberta reacted to Tri-Circle-D in October 2017 Fort Wilderness Recreation Calendar
It's worth noting that those in charge seem to have intentionally toned-down the descriptions of some of the holiday events so as to not attract unwanted guests.  They used to list trick-or-treating as an activity on these schedules, and that just attracted mobs of freeloaders.
Roberta, the Beach Bash should be a nice, fun event for your grandchildren.  Don't let the lack of more details worry you.  It's better that they don't broadcast everything it entails.

On Monday, October 30, there will not be a Movie Under the Stars, Chip ‘n Dale Campfire and Sing-A-Long due to alternative Halloween activities. See reverse side for details

Good to know about that CB, we almost stayed there in November, but I decided that I wanted power, so we continued on to Casey Jones.  We typically stay at the CB in Gainesville and have never had an issue, but CB is not as well lit as a Walmart or truck stop...so I can see a definite value in those.

Ironically, I had this same conversation with another RV owner earlier this week; he had experience vandalism to his unit, at an overnight stop ?

I saw this on facebook the other day. I was honestly shocked that it was happening to begin with. Who thinks this stuff up?

Sometimes, when I read things like this, I wonder why I'm not that clever. Then I get my senses about me and be thankful my parents didn't raise me to look for ways to be a cheat or a thief.

Its nice that they would comp a day, but comping a day doesn't return the lost family time that one comes to expect from Disney.
Calling the cops wouldn't help.  You call the cops and the cops call Disney and still nothing happens.  If I was at the fort and issues like this went on for a whole weekend or longer I'd document it, photo, video and such while notifying security and document their reprocess and then turn everything over to the media.  A little bad press and Disney would quickly fix the issue.
Right now its a in house problem, no one outside the direct fort and this board are aware of the issues.  A 30sec story with a big YouTube news outlet, or even mainstream media and suddenly its priority #1 to get it resolved.  Remember how fast the fencing went up around the lakes?

I agree. If they were next to us I would make a lot of calls to security. Then if no action I would start calling Orange County. I think deputies rolling up to the gate would get Disney moving.
