  1. And yes, I realize I'm one of about 4 fiends that will appreciate its beauty.
  2. This is very helpful. Thanks for adding it!
  3. I forgot to say welcome to FFs! With so many young kids, I would get a TT for sure, so you have a bathroom. I have a 3 year old, so a bathroom is a must for us. If the 5th wheel on the link I mentioned doesn't work, I know there is another company or 2 that does trailers. I thought they were linked here, but here's one... never used them though.... http://www.traveltrailerrent.com/FT_WILDERNESS_PACKAGE.html
  4. Well, if you're clever, you can bring booze on any cruise.... :)
  5. Here's the link to the ones listed here on FF.net. http://www.fortfiends.net/_/rental-information/campers/ I think they all set up on the stie for you. Is it just the 2 of you camping?
  6. I bought an old chandelier and am going to "Georgia" it out for tailgating. It's just a simple older builder special one. It already was painted black, so I'm going to repaint it and hang red and clear prisms on it. We'll hang it from the middle of one of our tents. Has anyone done this and have tips? I found this blog that has some good ideas... She makes me want to hang prisms on everything! http://thepolkadotcloset.blogspot.com/2011/01/how-to-add-chandelier-crystals-to.html Anyway, I'll post pictures of the final product. I need to order the prisms first, but I'm a little overwhelmed about
  7. I'm up in NJ visiting my mom, and we went to Smithville today. All of the stores had the milk cans out front as ashtrays. It was like torture because I want to find one and build a lamp.
  8. Stef- Come on over! Solamom- Gainesville is about 20-30 minutes by land from this. By water, it depends on the boat, but probably about the same. This campground is around the SW part of the lake, but Gainesville (GA) is about in the middle of the lake on the eastern side. It's not far, but I'm camping at a place closer to Gainesville in a couple weeks.
  9. I want to go back to the Keys!!! I can't next year, but camping there is on my bucket list. How much are the sites?
  10. It is expensive, no doubt about it. That said, since you prepay, you're not shelling it out at the same time as your trip, so that helps some. All in all, we thought it was worth it. We were 2 families, each with a teen and a little guy, and everyone had a good time. If you want to make it a better value, drink lots of beer/wine and have the kids sugar up on tons of Mickey bars.
  11. I read the first post but I have to catch up tomorrow. Great job! I'm very interested in this because I have the chance to stay at the Poly next summer for a crazy low rate (like considering gas and a Kenny cart, cheaper than the Fort), and I've been debating.... (or a Fiend could let me park my cart at their site? LOL)
  12. They do have a ramp, but I didn't actually head over there. Based on my map, it looks like they don't have parking at the ramp, and that's odd because I've never seen a ramp on Lanier without parking, even in a campground. That said, parking at the site depends on what you're camping with and how big your trailer would be. A tent, I'd say you're good at almost all. An RV, it just depends. We saw a lot of boat trailers at sites, and that makes sense if they don't have parking. They're really nice if you call and explain what you need in a site. This is the website to reserve (and it has a map),
  13. In case your hubs needs any more convincing, I'm with everyone else. We own a 2 door Jeep, and I will admit it's fun to drive, BUT, there is no way in hell I'd pull a PU with it. We used a Titan for a TT and learned quickly that even if you're well within the tow limit, things can get tough.
  14. I’ve been doing a lot of camping this summer. Too bad it hasn’t been at the Fort. But after the tick conversation, maybe I’m lucky it hasn’t been. Anyway, these are pictures of Bald Ridge Campground on Lake Lanier. It’s a close trip for us, and our boat is there. We stayed for 3 nights. It had been awhile since we’ve been there. I used to think it was the nicest campground on Lanier, but after seeing the redone section of Shady Grove, I’ve changed my mind. It’s still a good spot, but mostly because of the lake. The bathrooms are clean, but old. The sites are pretty big and consist of a paved d
  15. We stayed at the KOA right by Disney one time for a trip to Orlando for a bowl game. It's hard to get a last minute reservation at the Fort over New Years, you know? Since we weren't doing Disney everyday, it wasn't bad. The sites are smaller, and there isn't much to look at, but we weren't there much. We did go to the parks 2 days, but we drove because the shuttle didn't work for us. I didn't have a bad experience, it just doesn't compare. I hadn't stayed at the Fort since I was a kid, and after being there again this April, there's no way I would stay at that KOA again... unless it was just
  16. I've found that doubling or more one of her recipes and freezing the other half or so helps me build a stash of freezer meals.
  17. I love onceamonthmom.com. Her June traditional and grill menu were sooooooo good! She does some crockpot.
  18. I. want. one. But we don't have room to add one. Our friends that we often camp with have one (and do a load or 2 a day because it's small), but they still use the ones at the campground for sheets and towels.
