anywho, I can help with a few of those questions. We had a 20lb tank hooked up to it for 5 hours total on thanksgiving, we did two turkeys. One I did inject with a marinade and used a dry rub on the other, both were equally excellent. I was worried about the dry rub "coming" off but it stuck beautifully. The tank was still 3/4 of the way full when we were done. In fact, I'll be using that same tank for our Christmas dinner.
We are doing a prime rib in it this weekend, just recevied confirmation that DH will be home late Friday night, so Christmas is back on for the Carter household. I'll be sure to let you know how the prime rib works out :)

I sure hope we can make it. We sometimes have family commitments over the 4th but you know how that goes. I also like the Townsend KOA, although the sites can be a bit tight like a lot of places there. But it is removed from the craziness and easy to get to for those coming from the south or west. And it is close to Cades Cove.

I LOVE the idea of living on the road, and I hope if I'm not to old to drive around by the time my kids leave home, we can take part in this kind of lifestyle. This is just all my personal opinion but since you ask.....
a family of five going from 2400 to 300 square feet would kill me, sometimes I just need a few moments away not to mention "mommy daddy private time".. :rofl2: where would you put the kids?
You mentioned the social interaction of your children with other children, that would be cut drastically, you have to ask yourself is that the right thing for them? I dont home school but I know that alot of home school mom's still have their children involved with community sports and clubs so the only thing the kids miss are the learning hours, I personally feel that is a very important part of their sweet little lives.. how would that work if your moving every few months? Would you stay in one place long enough for them to do sports for a season? And if you did.. do you want to stay in a park where "permenant residents" are prominent?
I know that's a good chunck of negatives, I just think with kids, it's a lot more challenging, not impossible, but challenging.
But on the other hand, It sounds like a dream and nobody knows you and your family better than you do, everyone is different, every child is different. My oldest son 13 and my youngest girl would love that life style, however I think my other children would be miserable. They are very social beings :)

OK, so here's the rest of the hippie story.
That photo up there in post #4 was from August, 2009.
So, I was back at the Fort Thanksgiving week that year.
I was in Trail's End early one morning to get some coffee, and decided to snap a photo of some of the Christmas decorations in there.
This was the first photo:

Sorry about the blurriness, it was early in the morning, and still kind of dark in there.
As soon as I took that photo, I noticed a figure walking by on his way out of the restaurant. You can see him in the back of this photo:

It was the hippie!
He even had the same flame Converse and socks on!
I tried to take a second photo, but he was too fast for me. I just got a blurry shot of him about to walk out:

To which, I say:

What the Fort was that hippie doing in Trail's End before it even opened?
There are no restrooms or anything else back there.
