  1. Loved reading about the GG. Hopefully we can make it to one someday!
  2. . And I have yet to hear you people mention Chocolate Gravy!
  3. . We ate at one in Kissimmee a few years ago. The food was fair, didn't make us sick, and was very cheap. Makes you feel better heading onto property with a little extra cash in your pocket. Of course, I'd rather eat breakfast at Kona...
  4. Hmmm..... I wonder if Bamboo guy creeped out the people at the parks as much as he did me on the computer screen? (According to WDW Magic) The living statue 'Bamboo' will be having a final performance on September 23 2013. It isn't clear if the entertainment offering will return at a later date, or if it is a permanent closure. Bamboo opened August 14 2013 along the pathway from Asia to Africa. DiVine will continue to meet guests in the park.
  5. I'm in! Campground looks really nice - looking forward to more pics!
  6. Enjoyed your trip report! You guys managed a reunion and an awesome history lesson all in one. Hope you get to do even more next year!
  7. I second wearing the button! CMs and guests will wish you Happy Birthday all day! Sometimes you do get surprises from CMs, too. For our 10th anniversay we got extra dessert samplings at Boma, tons of bead necklaces at POR, and a call from Mickey and the gang at both the Imagination gift shop and at American Adventure (here we even got a neat card filled out for us). The POR staff left us an "autographed" card from Mickey and the gang with a PhotoPass gift card. You never know what might happen!
  8. Hmm... I would have to say the classic Mickey/Minnie ones are the my favorites. BUT, oddly, that all black little one from the Wicked Queen is pretty cool.
  9. Thanks for the detail! I haven't had the chance to go to Gettysberg - the pictures are great. I grew up close to Shiloh Military Park in TN and have visited Vicksburg and Chickamauga. There is such a reverence at these parks. We have learned a lot as a nation but we have a long way to go.
  10. It seems to be once a year - in the fall. I think they are up to picking about 40 people now that they are also looking for people that specialize in knowledge about the cruises, ESPN events, Spanish speakers, and Adventures by Disney.
  11. Keep the lucky thoughts rolling! Who knows? Gee, essay writing.... eek! I think Thrill needs to apply as well.
  12. I seriously doubt I will get past round one, but hey, I'm giving it a try!
  13. I think so - it flies through here so quickly it is hard to get a good look at it!!! :rofl2:
  14. We liked Crystal palace. The characters are Pooh and friends if that would interest your kiddos. The food is American and Mediterranean (which we loved). It seemed less chaotic than Chef Mickey's (great characters, good food, though). Those are the only 2 we have done. It will probably be a few years until we do another character meal because of the extra cost. I don't know that one day of the week is any better or worse. It would probably have more to do with peak or not peak times of the year. If it is near spring break time everything will be busy. As for the meals at the Fort we
  15. We have bought ours only through the WDW website, so I can't tell you about AAA. They will mail you a paper voucher. Unless it has changed, you have to go to a park ticket booth (we always did MK) where they will exchange the voucher for your passes. At that point they are good for one year regardless of when you purchased them. The last time we got the vouchers the resorts were not able to exchange them for passes - only the park gates. Any fiends got more updated info???
  16. We love the 1500 loop best. Since we just need a partial hook-up that works for us. We love being able to cross the road and get to the playground, pool, and trading post.
  17. We lived just out of Detroit for 2 years and got to visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield village several times. Occasionally you can watch a turn of the century style baseball game. It is definitely worth a few days' time. When our boys are older we want to do a trip where we go show them where we lived, see this museum, get some really good MIddle Eastern food, and do Cedar Point down in Sandusky.
  18. Be sure and invite Lou (our friendly WDW bus driver Fiend) to join you on the beach for the EWP. It is one of his favorite things in the world. :hah: Where IS he, by the way? Haven't heard from him in a while......
  19. Here are my 2 cents. Of course with inflation they are negative numbers - so all readers will probably have to pay to read, but.... I love Disney. I like Starbucks. I do enjoy a specialty coffee from there every now and then - especially when I have a gift card from a student. Those grande or venti treats are a treat, a pick-me-up, from my everyday life. You know, those days when you are NOT at Disney. Soooooo, I don't NEED Starbucks when I am at the World. Granted, the Nescrape wasn't doing it for me, but hey - I'll just have a Mickey bar instead. I hate to see favorite shops pu
  20. Welcome! Keep us updated on your search. We hope to be shopping for a pop up next year, but any info about buyer experiences, brands, best times to buy, etc. help us all! Glad to you here!
