  1. -Any of the behind the scenes or segway tours -Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party -Believe it or not - Hoop De Doo Review! (Thrill's family went so much when he was growing up that they haven't made it a priority in the last decade.) I finally got to see the Osborne Lights a couple of years ago. I wanted to see it just because I felt like it would be one of those "check it off your list" kind of things. Instead I think I cried just standing there in the fake snow watching the lights dance with the music. I can't wait to take our boys next month!
  2. Don't know for sure. BUT, here is my research: The Gazette they gave out in November 2011 said "What happens to the Campfire Program if it rains? A 'Porch Jam' sing-a-long takes place at the Meadow Swimmin' Hole." The far less impressive "Recreation Activities" page they gave us in January 2013 states in very small print at the bottom of page: " Activities and programs are subject to change. In the event of inclement weather, please check for changes at the Meadow Recreation Complex and/or the Bike Barn." Kind of non-committal, huh?
  3. At one time, if it was raining the Campfire Sing-a-long would be held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post.
  4. No advice except to have fun, don't stress the details, and enjoy the event. Congratulations!!!
  5. Yep, the best ones we had were more similar to the texture of fresh mushrooms in butter and garlic. Thanks, people. Now I am hungry!
  6. Besides, I am always worried about re-creating the Pretty Woman scene and launching the snail shell across the room....
  7. But the bread shots would automatically suck the butter and garlic out of the dish for me! Now that is a good idea. It would save me from having to stealthily clean my escargot plate with bread (since licking the plate is generally frowned upon.)
  8. Welcome! We are just south of you in Macon. We, too, have 2 kids and a tent but are hoping to own a pup in the not too distant future. Lots of people on here will have great advice. We are banking it and doing a bit of research on our own - we will be renting one from fellow Fiend Curt for a long weekend at the Fort in January. He has owned different kinds and could tell you pros and cons of various brands. Glad you decided to hop on board!
  9. I kind of like that the "good" stuff is at the Meadows. The Settlement seems so much more public - there for those people who only come to the Fort to see Hoop De Doo and don't stay to take advantage of everything the Fort has to offer. The Meadow Trading Post is "ours"!
  10. Looking forward to seeing New Fantasyland for the first time next month! I will have to seek this out.
  11. My favorites are: Nemo the Musical Country Bears Muppets Festival of Lion King American Adventure (I do find it beautiful and inspiring, but I have other wonderful memories there. We got to go to the World both times I was pregnant with our boys. After walking and walking it was so good to sit and rest during the show - and that was when I got to feel DS1 move in utero for the first time! By the time I was there carrying DS2 he was quite the acrobat. Sweet times!)
  12. So, let's see, I need to dress in something "fun", eat a cupcake, learn to draw Mickey (had to leave there early to make it to the next seating of the Disney Junior show) and do an official tour. Hey Thrill, we have to get me "caught up"!
  13. Awesome! We haven't done any of the extra parties so I am glad to experience them through your family. I also love reading about how you guys (see - southern girl that prefers that to ya'll. I never did fit in....) keep finding magic at the parks. I hope our boys still love it as adults - we are doing our part. Of course we are just big kids, too. Our DS2 was excited to lose his first tooth this week but a little bummed it wasn't at the Magic Kingdom like big brother did.
  14. Congrats! The venue looks really cool. Anxiously awaiting more pics!
  15. . In my experience the French donuts and elephant ears were similar. I am a funnel cake girl myself- less chewy and easier/less messy to eat. Of course I would have trouble turning down much of anything deep fried and covered in powdered sugar...
  16. Actually, we were at the MK one year during the taping. My b-day is Dec. 6 and it was the year that you could get in free on your birthday. Though Main Street was impassable, they had a roped off area for non-parade guests to walk around the perimeter. We walked on rides for hours! They took a break or stopped taping about 2 pm and it got busier in the rest of the park, but still not bad at all.
  17. Move to the Fort -- Ahhh, if only......... I am glad to be a part of this family that loves Disney warts and all. I guess we consider Disney part of our families - you strive to see the best in it, are thankful for the good times together, and accept that it is human (company at least) and makes mistakes like we all do but love it anyway....
  18. As for the food, you should not have any trouble taking food into the parks. I believe they do not allow glass, but other than that you are pretty open, especially for young children and special dietary needs. I always carry water bottles and granola bars just so we can hold off a meal for a while if lines are long or we want to ride something first. Speaking of water, make sure your group stays hydrated. You guys are used to the heat, but the asphalt really drains you. Don't forget the sunscreen and hats, too. As others have mentioned, avoid the early afternoon hours in the parks - be
