Sorry about the DB parents. That is becoming more and more prevalent.
Trophies and medals for everyone! Even the lazy kids who don't work hard/try hard and finish in last place! Hurray!
Those are the same kids who end up on American Idol all pissy and heartbroken bc their parents always told them how great they were even though they were tone deaf.

Past weekend we visited DW. Eventually there were going to be my wife and myself, then my 3 adult daughters, adult son, 2 granddaughters and 2 in-laws. In the beginning we were scattered due to delayed flights, airport pickups, and drives over from Tampa. Wife, myself and 1 GD started at AK on the safari ride. Driver was good, she had some good stories and jokes, but the ride itself wasn't any different than the last time we went on it about 5 years ago. After that we wandered over to Dino.and and met up with the kids and other granddaughter. They all went on primal swirl and the dino dumbo type ride. After a few got on Everest. Then we made the mistake of heading over to the MK. We parked in the lot got on the tram, then waited for a safety walk thru. Finally made it to the monorail for a fun filled packed ride to the MK.
Got some fast passes, then headed to Country Bear. A few of us went in the others went to the Pirates for standby. They waited a 1/2 hour and they shut it down due to a breakdown. When we came out of the bears they were roping off the street for the Electric Parade. So we waited and waited and waited. The monorail recording said the parade was at 8 and 10 with fireworks at 9. Finally I looked at the schedule and the parade wasn't until 9 and 11. We gave up ,fought the crowds and headed to our Buzz FP... Which said was good from 8:55 to 10:55 a 2 hour window?
The ride broke down, but where I sat I was able to rack up 160000 point before it restarted. I ended up with 297400 points.
After that we bailed with the the 2 grand kids and went back to our hotel the Caribe Royale. Nice place, wish we had spent more time there.
I didn't realize how long it took to leave the MK and get to your car.
Sunday kids and grand kids went to HS, we hung around the hotel then headed to Epcot. Walked around the countries then met up,with everyone else. Got some food, went on Spaceship Earth as a standby, did the butterfly garden and the weird cokes. Looked at the flowers, and one GD did the Phineas and Ferb spy game in England.
We had a decent time, but the MK was a zoo. I don't think I'll go there again after it gets dark. People are too pushy, you can't see, and they clog the walkways hours before the parades and fireworks start. I've seen a mass panic mob scene better organized.
Maybe I'm just getting too old for this stuff. My wife had her hand stepped on 3 times by the same 2 girls playing outside of the Bears. When she finally yelled at the kids (after telling them twice to please be careful) the mother said to the kids did she say something to you 3 times? Never had the kids apologize nor did she say she was sorry for their behavior.

They might be just reheating it in the display smoker.
On 4 Rivers, there are quite a few good articles about the founder John Rivers. Very down to earth guy with a good Christian background. That's why he's closed on Sundays. He has a good cookbook out. We saw and talked to him last year at the UCF book fair and got him to autograph our cookbooks.

It was great that you got a better spot, but I sure would hate to break camp and move all of my stuff, especially if it was less than a weeks stay, or really at any time.

I guess at the moment I don't have to worry, since we book partial sites and supposedly dogs aren't allowed in those.  But we could hear one yapping all day long from a camper in the 1600 loop the first couple of days we were there for the week of the 4th.

Last line says it all, they have selective enforcement of the rules.

No skateboards, but the same underage kid can be whipping around the loops with 6 other kids piled in a golf cart, (either their own or the Forts) with music blaring and go right past a 1/2 dozen CM's and they don't do a thing.

Nostalgia can be a powerful tool.

Look at all the items  that are being revived from our childhoods at modern day prices.  Or look at the originals that are going for astronomical prices. Have you priced a 70's Muscle Car lately?

Nostalgia can also backfire.  People remember the good old days and the good old prices, and balk at what the same (or nearly the same) item costs now.

I think the biggest problem for us older generation that have been visiting Disney for years, is that our income has not kept up with any of the theme park (not just Disney) prices, so we feel like we are getting a lot less bang for our buck.

I know there are fiends and others out there that to them $$$ is no object, but to the solid middle classers it's getting harder and harder to grin and bear it.

And I know it's because of these memories that we cherish the good old days at the Fort and the parks.

Newcomers expect to get fleeced and be treated like cattle, but we remember a calmer more affordable Disney experience.

I don't expect management to take us back to the good old days, but it would be nice if they did start embracing Walts philosophy again.

In general nowadays people demand everything to be perfect in their day to day lives, and they don't want to be bothered with details, excuses or logical explanations as to why something didn't go their way

Disney Magic hype, their print/TV advertising and mailers, and promises, just make it worse once people drive under those welcoming arches.

They were promised Disney Magic, and damn it, they are going to get it no matter how many other people they have to screw over or how many crying kids they have to drag thru the parks!

I know the CMs are just doing their job and it's not their fault. It's managements fault for letting so many people into the park.

    BINGO!!  We have a winner!

If you can't expand the park/amenities to handle the crowds, then start closing the gates.

We couldn't get near any places to eat a week ago Friday at lunch time (as late as 1:30) so we left and walked to the Contemporary.

We just got a Yonanas frozen desert maker and tried a Dole Whip recipe we saw on line. All you do is add semi softened pineapple chunks to the Yonanas and out comes soft serve pineapple sorbet. For the first try it was pretty decent. I think next time I'll let the pineapple chunks soften a little more and make it smoother. You can mix in cool whip to the sorbet to make it creamier if you want.

This is an As Seen on TV stoneware microwave cooker. I came across it at a local Dollar Tree and figured what the heck for a buck it was worth a try.
Usually these things are a bust and not worth much more than a dollar.
It had some simple recipes included in the box. We tried the poached egg. Zap it for 20 seconds, rest for 20, then another 20 second zap. Put it on toast and it was great.
My wife looked it up on line and it got really great reviews from numerous sites and there are tons of recipes out there.
We made the omelet (2 minutes) and it came out a perfect size for a breakfast sandwich. It was really thick and fluffy, the peppers were cooked just enough.
She also saw that people have said a lot of the Dollar Trees have sold out of them.
We were so impressed we went and bought 10 more for our kids and friends.
Quick way to make a breakfast before heading out to the parks.
On line there are recipes for burgers, steak, onions, deserts and much much more.
We give it two thumbs up!!

Fast Pass + is a joke.
We used it last Friday our first trip back to the parks in about 4+ years.
My daughter copied her passes to,us, but we got Haunted Mansion instead of Mine Train.
My other daughter and granddaughter got HM a 1/2 hour after us. So we waited for her time so we all could go thru.
Checked MDE and what the,we now had Mine Train. So we did a band swap so daughter/gd could go to mine train.
We come out they were there and said they couldn't get on Mine Train.
Got my band back, gd and I ran over to MT and the scanners didn't go green. Showed the CM my phone and she let us in.
The MDE doesn't seem to be very accurate. We went to AK and most of out passes weren't listing correct. Scanned our bands at a kiosk and everything was the way it should be.
I don't like them! I think everyone should wait in line.

Resurrecting this thread from the grave as I have seen a lot of relevant posts lately about rude campers.

TN22 and I grew up camping and there were always VERY aware of campground etiquette -

    - Don't walk through another's campsite
    - Don't go into another's camper without a parent's permission (This was the 70's and 80's)
    - Don't approach someone's LEASHED pet without permission
    - Cars and RV's had the right of way - get to the side of the road where you could be seen
    - Pick up your trash
    - NIght time was quiet time
    - ALWAYS RESPECT YOUR ELDERS-  if we didn't we usually got spanked by them - and then again when our parents found out…there were eyes everywhere!!!
    - and we an go on and on, but bottom line it was about RESPECT

When we camp with our families now, we often put chairs or hammocks up to block easy pathways - only to watch preteens move our stuff out of the way as they march thru….just no respect anymore…. :484grumpy11:

Travisma got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Coolest "Off Site" Resorts
Most of those resorts are at the same or higher costs than staying on property.

The Omni is a nice resort. It's at the Championsgate exit west of Celebration.

Nice rooms, beautiful property, lots for kids to do.

The have a quiet pool, a family pool and a lazy river.

They have crafts and scuba lessons for extra fees.

We've stayed there a couple of times using Priceline and got great rates.

But they have now followed the majority of other hotels in the area and have added either a resort fee or a parking fee of about $25 a day.

It's just another way that the hotels gouge you like the airlines do with added fees.

You would think they would encourage guests to drive, then there are less people using their shuttles.

Why they don't include the fees in the stated price is beyond me, and there really is no way around them.

Rosen Shingle is a nice resort also.

    Interesting article.

I was shocked and disappointed at how crappy the Disney channel has become.

We had it when the kids were growing up,and it was a great family channel full of Disney cartoons and Disney movies.

Fast forward to when my granddaughter started watching it.

Gone were the beloved Disney movies and cartoons, replaced by shows about smart assed tweens ruling their homes (when you even see parental figures), or just living their lives the way they want with no adult influence whatsoever.

The kids are always right, the adults are always stupid or wrong.  I hate their entire lineups.  Every show is the same, just different kids and locations.

The Disney Channel went the same way MTV and HBO did.  From their core concept they branched out to things that weren't even in their original programming/concept.
