Ours declared one yesterday starting this morning. It isn't some official being an idiot. By declaring an emergency they can start activating emergency services and the National Guard. It also starts getting federal government agencies like FEMA activated. In our case it is also what gets emergency equipment such as generators and fast water rescue pre-staged to known problem areas saving time for when it is really needed. In NC it also has the effect of invoking anti-price gouging laws which is what keeps gas from shooting to $10/gal. On the other hand if the governor waited and things went to heck in a hand basket everybody would be yelling he should have acted sooner.

I think we gave out almost as much liquor to the adult trick or treaters as we did candy.

If you do decide to hand out candy something I never thought about at home or actually till I joined FF is having an allergy friendly option. We had some throw beads left over from a parade we did so I took those as well as some candy that was gluten, nut, and milk free. Of course this is completely optional and like I said nothing I had thought about before joining here and finding out that there would be little Fiends with allergies trick or treating.

Maybe I'll look into that.  Always looking for an excuse to come to Florida.

500 loop has plenty of room. Some of the inside sites are a little smaller but not bad and well spaced apart. This was our preferred loop for awhile though our last few trips we preferred 900.

You may have a harder time with them getting one of the 2 cabins in the 100 loop. I know TCD got one one time, maybe he'll be along with some tips or tricks for getting it. We requested one when our friends stayed one time but could not get one and from the looks of it those cabins sat empty during their stay.

This is what we do, the only difference is we don't have any kids.

When we took my nephew we only went to MK but we did a split day, he was 9 and probably could have gone all day but the adults needed naps and it was hot.

Don't let anyone at the Fort see that people are willing to pay that for a site!

Oh that's a good way to get people's credit cards shut down while they are on vacation. Bank seeing charges from NY while youre also charging stuff in FL.

I wonder what the washers and dryers show as, I know we used them last year but didn't think to look.

Not so much ornaments but I did find my Disney Christmas record and a place to put my grandma's Minnie Santa hat.

The first time we stayed at the Fort was in a cabin when I was around 7, we never went to the parks, I didn't want to. There was plenty to do at the Fort. That being said we live in Florida and had been to Disney before. Now when we go we are in one park or another almost everyday, but like Gwen it could be a quick trip for something to eat or to do one thing and leave.

I can understand your frustration on not getting a site in the same loop as the rest of your group. However I have learned to not really count on getting a site or loop that you request, sometimes it works out and others it does not. After all the Fort does not reserve specific sites and I'd think one of the reasons is for cases like this. We have extended our vacation several times always calling at least the night before to let them know and have never been asked to change sites. If they ever did ask us to move I would be rather upset. I doubt there is any penalty fee other than being charged an extra night. It is rude if the person did not let the front desk know that they were staying.

The tent and bacon look great. You can still fax a site request 5 days before check in and request the 1500 loop if you'd like. That's weird that it's not on the online check in anymore.

We have an Epson scanner that does all the slides, negatives, pictures and such. It was a very time consuming feat to scan 12 slide reels, plus several boxes and a briefcase full but finally got them done. I can't off hand remember the model of the scanner but it can be loaded with 4-6 pics depending on size at a time and once you get the spacing down it will scan them as separate pictures instead of one page. What we did and I plan to do when I start scanning pictures again is to set it up on a rolling cart with a laptop and take it out to the living room so they can be scanned while watching tv in the evening. Our pictures are a jumbled mess so I just downloaded them to one folder (unless they are in an album) then sort them later into years or events. I also like to keep them backed up on 2 portable hard drives, one that staying in our go box for evacuation or to grab in an emergency and another for general use.

I have avoided posting on this thread because I have no personal experience renting from Kenny or any other vendor.
I can understand how you would be upset as would I with not getting what you paid for. The problem I have and I think others here might have is that the only reason you registered and became a contributing member of this forum was to post a rather harsh review of a vendor, and made threats in the process. Yes we all have our complaints, rant, gripes, whatever you want to call them and we post about them on here, but we also add content that is not negative. If you had approached it in a less hostile way I think it would have given more validity to what you had to say. At this point if I was to read your posts as someone wanting to rent a golfcart I would take what you said with a grain of salt.
Fort Fiends is a community of people who love Fort Wilderness with a wealth of knowledge on all things Disney. I think it's a testament in its self that opinions are valued that your posts are still even up and have not been removed. I lurked a long time before taking the plunge and joining, I have been lucky enough to meet some of the fiends and some I haven't but feel like I know. I feel like I learn something new everyday on here and know if I have a problem or complaint I can come here and vent. Maybe someone has a solution or will agree with me, or tell me I wrong and make me see how and that is why I joined. The since of camaraderie here is something I feel like you are missing or miss understanding by making comments like "you people are so blind" and "feeling like you defended a friend".
As for the defending a friend I only see people saying they have had good experiences or issues they've had and offering suggestions that may help you.

I have installed a 3D printer in the 3000 loop for the sole purpose of reproducing the cinnamon rolls.  I do, however, need an original in order for the project to work.    I believe if I plug it in backwards, it will also make annoying posters disappear.
