Thanks :) Funny... we've lived in Atlanta for 11 years and have only been to Lake Lanier one time. Another fiend posted about Sawnee Campground on Lake Lanier. Her pics showed these really neat walk down private "patio" areas that overlook the lake (if I understood correctly, your camping spot had it's own patio area). We are looking for a campground that has: 1) nice views 2) nice playground for our kiddos (7 and 2.5) 3) nice showers Lake Lanier seems to have several options... any suggestion on which campground would be best for our family?

I grew up in Washington State...so I've been a Starbucks gal for over 20 years (should have bought stock in the blasted company... that and Costco). Anyway... have to admit this, I'd rather have the bakery back. I. MISS. THE. CINNAMON. ROLLS. Bring 'em back!! :gaah:

Thanks. On the Amazon/Camco product...we met a gentleman at The Fort who used this and loved it. Said it worked better than the Flush King he had, so we are considering this. As for the axle...gosh, I have no idea :- . I am learning all of this as we go. I can tell you that we have 2 axles and that our trailer is a 23' (when towed) hybrid by Trail Cruiser.

I would love to raise our trailer... we BARELY clear the bumper when backing it up our (steep) driveway. An axel flip... is that installing new axles on the camper?

Does anyone use this? http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/sewer-solution/16617 We purchased a Flush King and had a heck of a time with it at The Fort. Our trailer is very low to the ground so the Flush King was "in the way" and made emptying the tank very hard.

Thanks Fiends, Stone Mountain is one we are considering. Just booked a 3 night stay for this/Memorial Day weekend at the KOA in Chattanooga (Lookout Mtn/Chattanooga West). We have a wedding up in Chattanooga on Saturday, so hopefully this will work well. They had one spot open and, after talking with the owner Brian, it sounds like it may be a decent visit. Praying for hot temps so the kiddos can use their pool! :)

For those of you fiends, who have stayed in or around Atlanta, any recommendations on a campground? I've found a couple of state parks that look interesting...only hiccup is my kiddos really like to swim (in a pool) so that's been tough to find. Any suggestions? We'd like to stay within 2 hrs (maybe 3) of the ATL.

If this last Saturday was any indication of how busy this Saturday will be.... goodness. Stay. Away. We were blessed with low crowds last week, then Saturday hit and watch out! The locals showed up at the campground (talked with a gentleman in line for food at the pool and he was at a site with 5 tents and several families!! Really??!!). The pool was SO busy, that not only could you not find a place to sit/lay down... but it was almost impossible to move around the pool itself. Too many people! It wasn't enjoyable

Lucky for us, our daughter likes the movie Frozen...but she was not silly-crazy about having to see the character at the Magic Kingdom because the shortest we saw the line was 3 hours (it was 5 hours about 20 minutes after MK opened one morning with the Extra Magic Hours!). We'll try for a fast pass in October... just in case she's obsessed with it by then

Ahhh.... that explains all of the tents in the 300 loop! We just returned from our visit (stayed in the 100 loop) and while driving around on Saturday, we noticed that the 300 loop was 70% tents; I thought that was strange...now I get it! :) Heck, guess we should have stayed with our original reservation (a pop-up site, with a request for the 1500 loop) instead of paying to upgrade :)
