twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Making our little camper... "ours".
So... the two things (well, three if you count the faucets) that made me want to make a couple of changes...was the wallpaper (specifically the border) and the dark curtains. Funny thing is, I like our camper to be dark when I put the kiddos down, but I just didn't care for (all) the dark green fabric and I really hated the metal blinds. So I thought, "okay...I'll paint and hang new blinds". Yeah, it's always easier in your mind than what actually plays out in reality :)
The blinds? I wanted black out blinds (again...need the camper to be as dark as possible) but our windows measured over 40" wide and to find quality black out blinds (or even a black out roll-down shade) for something that wide is NOT cheap (about $100/window and I had 3 windows to cover). Did I mention that I didn't have any money to do this, so it had to be cheap? So after a couple of weeks of searching for blinds, I switched gears and decided on black out curtains. That thought started me on a two week search and 6 shipments from Target and Walmart (so thankful for free shipping and easy returns!). I must have ordered 20 different shades (not to mention the 4 or 5 sets I purchased at the local stores) before I finally found a color that I liked and one that was actually a true black out curtain. Nice thing is, once I actually found them, I was blessed as they were one of the cheapest I looked at (around $12 a shade and I only needed to order 4). Of course, then I had to find the right/cheap curtain rod...oh the drama
But, before all of this, there was the paint. Now, the paint color was easy for me as I had some left over beige/khaki from some painting I did in our living room last Spring. It was cheap free, light and neutral :thumbsup2: But, before the paint... there was the removal of the wallpaper boarder. I started by peeling a corner of the paper off and thought, "Yay!!! This is just going to peal off in one big piece!". I soon realized that while the boarder itself was peeling off easy, the glue underneath? Yeah, not-so-much. So, you guessed it....soon I had a camper without the boarder, but (in it's place) a nice thick bug-catcher strip of glue. It. Was. Awesome.
What to do, when you have glue? Why a try glue remover of course :) I called a local RV store and (sweet as they are) they had NO idea. I then called Sherwin Williams...yep, no real help there. I then turned to the internet where I found the following suggestions: TSP, Goof-off and sanding the crap out of it. I also came across some fool who suggested vinegar and water...seriously? All that did was bead up on top of the glue. The glue laughed at vinegar and water... as it did the TSP, Goof off and sanding the crap out of it. I tried all three together and after working on a small 6" by 4" section for about an hour, I though that maybe, just maybe, I could prime over that result and try painting...but then I did the math and if that small section took me an hour, to do all the walls would take me days :banghead: So, finally I could hear my daddy's voice in my ear... paint thinner. Good ole' turpentine. Thing of it is...I could have saved myself some time by just calling him before I started all if this...but they raised a stubborn independent girl so...I often times cause myself more work Having said that, the time he spent showing me stuff that I NO desire learning about, has paid off in my adult life. For those of you daddies who know how to work with your hands, teach your sons and your daughters. They will appreciate it.... someday :)
Well, sure enough, I soaked a rag and rubbed the wall...and this is what I got:
Gross looking, but I was THRILLED! I could work with this! It took a few hours...but after rubbing down the wall, I followed with a (plastic) paint edge tool and scraped off the goo. I then wiped the goo off in a paper towel (I think I went through an entire roll) and moved on down the wall. After it was all said and done, I wiped the walls down with tsp, then sanded, wiped again (with an almost dry, just water, rag) and primed. Painting is actually therapeutic for me...so that was the easy, easy part.
So, took some time...but well worth the effort :)

:rofl3:
Welcome! Remember to request being near a CS, when you make the reservations.... Disney is usually pretty decent about that.

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Frozen Costumes...
Are back at disneystore.com... if anyone was waiting! Free shipping right now as well (free shipping on all "halloween" item). We picked up an Elsa costume for our October trip, at JCPenney's a few months back; this was a better fit for us as the price was about 1/2 plus, the one thing I typically do NOT like about the costumes at the Disney Store is All. The. Glitter. Mercy...those things will shed glitter (EVERYWHERE) for months!
Pretty costumes though :)

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from cindymac11 in Pets in a Non-Pet Loop
Our daughter has a HUGE fear of dogs. Big or small. Unfortunately there was a large black dog in the 100 loop with us in May. Fortunately, the owners were good pet owners and the dog was a good animal (did not approach us...which would have been hard as Boo walked waaayyyy on the other side of the road, as far as she could get from the dog, walking as quickly as she could...poor thing); the dog was by the owner's side the entire time and never barked. I did ask a CM about the animal, but the gal was from housekeeping and didn't have much information. Had the dog been a problem, we would have gone to Disney...but (for us) the key is to be a good pet owner. Your little pup is cute and small, but would still scare the crap out of Bailey if it ran up to her, so just make sure to be a good pet owner...which I'm sure you are

Haha... me too :) Then again, this October will be our 5th trip in 12 months (including one in HOT July)...so, maybe I am a Mo? :)

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from FortWildernessLoopy in I've lost 65 lbs to date
Congratulations on the weight loss! We too often share an entree and one nice thing about most of the buffets...is they have salad, fruit, chicken (I pull the skin off) and other healthy items offered. Key is to stay hydrated while at the parks, as that will really help.
Continued luck as you work towards your goal. Good health really is everything...

Looks like you've already got lots of great information; the only thing I'd add... is make sure to save a day for relaxing at the Fort. There is a lot to do there (or you can do nothing :) ). Have a WONDERFUL trip and... :welcome:

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Non-PUP in the 1500 loop allowed?
Just got back from a 4 night visit... we have a 23' hybrid (I think it's around 26' with the back bunk opened) and stayed in the 1500 loop with no problems. Missed the sewer hook-up, but the size of our pad worked fine for both our camper and our truck (plus a 12x12 awning out back).

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Okay... is it sad that I now...
Pass trucks and think, "Man... I really like those (tow) mirrors" ?
Wow, how my point of view has changed, since we bought our little camper :)

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Importance of Surge Protectors - fka Ten Minutes is All It Took!!!
Okay... just ordered ours from Camping World. Was going to hold off (because, let's be honest, it's tough to afford) but then we thought of the OP's story again and realized that the breaker box in our small trailer is directly below our daughter's bed. Yep... that's all it took.
It should be here by the end of next week and in time for our trip on the 4th.

So, basically, we just need to be at the Fort (when you 'all are) then follow you around and eat at everyone else's site. Yeah... we can do that :)

Thank you.
Love your comment about Jesus and the nativity... I too wish it was more prominent, but am thankful that at least it was still there.
Also...pictures of the castle, super pretty. Was that during Mickey's Christmas party?

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in New Animal Kingdom Entertainment
This is a test of Disney's, "should we or should we not" try-out system. The cast members of your area in voluntary forced cooperation with local, regional and corporate management have developed this system to keep you informed confused and frustrated in the event that you might have actual enjoyed this new activity. If this had been an actual improvement, the testing of Atmosphere Entertainment would have been followed by official information, news or instructions on new rate increases. This website serves all Fort Fiends within the world wide web area. This concludes this test of Disney's, "should we or should we not" try-out system.

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from djsamuel in Pet loops
So true and so, so sad. I bet Mr. Disney is turning over in his grave...from all I've read and watched on him, he was a man who yes, wanted to make a buck (a lot of them) but he valued people.
What this all comes down to, is people's lack of respect for others. Yes, my sweet girl is very afraid of dogs...but if (all) dog owners respected other people and made sure their animals were taken care of (kenneled or in the RV during the day when they are at the park or always on a leash and not allowed to bark incessantly) then the concern for a non-pet loop wouldn't be as huge. If you respect others enough, to not bring an aggressive animal to the campground and if you cleaned up after the animals that you did bring... then this issue would (my guess) all but go away.
But... people no longer respect other people. The same as with the example of the teenagers being reckless on the golf carts... my dad would have come close to beating the living crap out of me if I was so disrespectful to others. Or heck, the grown adults who have had too much to drink and act likes idiots on their golf cart or are way too loud at their campsite... no respect for others.
As for Disney stepping up and enforcing the rules....much needed. Didn't I read somewhere that a new GM took over in the last year or so...? Has that helped at all??

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in So... what are you wearing??
Wonder how many hits this will get :)
What I'm curious about is, if you are CURRENTLY at The Fort, it looks like it topped out at 68 today. It's been a while since Atlanta saw 68 so I'm curious... are you in jeans and a t-shirt or long sleeve? Our trip isn't for a few weeks (first week in February) and I'm praying that the thermometer rises several degrees before we get there but... I'm trying to prepare.
So, is 68 at Disney t-shirt or long sleeve weather??

twiceblessed....nacole reacted to BigTom in Campgrounds and Pop Up Campers
We have a Jayco 806 popup. Basic model with a/c. I removed the sink and stove, added microwave and dorm refrigerator that we set on counter because we needed more room that camper came with. We do our cooking outside unless bad weather and then nuke something. We have a/c and would not have one without a/c. It covers outside noise and also keeps the humidity down in the camper. It covers noise so well that we had a campsite right by the bus stop a few times 1501 once and the bus noise did not brother us at all.
Am pulling with a 6 cylinder pickup and a minivan, don't even feel it back there. If you have any question, let me know.
