I'm in if it's Statler and Waldorf.  Some of the people in the park need an interaction with that duo.

Ok true, but they name some outside the parks at the end. And Tutto Gusto deserves a spot, certainly over Gaston's.

Too bad they're wrong. Trader Sam's should be on this list. They don't have desserts, but it's the best bar at WDW.

I remember that one back when Celebration was being planned/built - people were convinced you had to be  Disney worker to live there.

These aren't gator protective fences, these are anti-liability barriers.
Disney is showing that they are protecting their guests by blocking access to the water and placing signs warning of dangerous wildlife and to stay out of the water.
Now if someone passes the barrier and gets injured for any reason Disney is protected.
Another site had mentioned that the same afternoon the barrier went up at GF,  people were already past it so they could take pictures.

I've  had a really tough time wrapping my head around this whole thing.  I can think of nothing more tragic than what this family is going thru.  Imagine the excitement of a Disney vacation changed in an instant by such a tragedy.   I am afraid they will never recover from this horrific event.   I have seen the fencing pictures and think it will have little to no effect except to distract from the view and quiet the attorneys for a while.   I'm a Yankee so grew up without the threat of alligators, but spent a good part of my adult life living in swamps with them.   They are stone cold creatures whose only purpose in life is to feed and reproduce.  They are territorial and there isn't much more frightening than to see their glowing eyes at night a few feet away unless it is the thought of the ones you don't see.  Anyone caught on property feeding these things should be arrested, fined, banned from Disney.  I don't care if they paid 2000 bucks a night for a freakin bungalow or not.

There's really no comparison- you get a nice, clean room with air conditioning, a private bath, a TV with channels that work (no Stacy though), and a nice pool without any freeloaders hogging all the chairs and space.  Plus free breakfast!  It's really hard to say that paying $80 for a partial campsite is a better choice.

Sadly, this episode is a perfect illustration of why the Fort management has a huge problem on their hands when it comes to enforcing the golf cart rules.
We will never know what really happened, but we do know that a child was driving a golf cart, and that a police officer stopped the cart because of that.  How would something have this played out at Fort Wilderness with one of the geriatric Rangers?
People are ***holes.  I've seen it myself at the Fort while slowly driving all the way out on Fort Wilderness Trail behind some Guido with gelled hair and a big gold chain, talking on his cell phone, driving his golf cart at 7 miles and hour, with his wife and six or seven kids squeezed in the cart.  The jackwagon flipped me off when I gave him a courtesy tap of the horn.  I've seen the same behavior by jackwagons with buses behind them.
We live in a society where people believe that rules are suggestions, and they can do as they please.  There is no such thing as common courtesy.  And pity the fool who tries to stop these jackwagons from being jackwagons.

I would take Western Way to Buena Vista Drive, turn right, then take the Osceola Parkway (the exit is at the McDonalds) to Animal Kingdom.

TCD, I don't think you are in the minority for those of us who have been familiar with Walt's Dream and the original layout of the Bay Lake/Seven Seas areas.  These new constructions will be accepted by the new millennials who never knew the relaxed atmosphere of the lakes.  The same goes for the new construction in the Parks.  They won't know what thy are missing from the "old days".  "Everyman" will be priced out, and WDW will become a playground for the rich and famous...much as things like the Super Bowl is not an on-site football game for football fans.

I think building a resort in Brazil would go a long way towards making visits more enjoyable. It wouldn't bother me in the least to not see another Brazilian soccer club or school group clogging up the works.

I don't like the tone that this thread is taking, on both sides. I'm locking this thread for a day or so to let people cool off, and if people can't be civil, I'm going to move it to the debate thread so you can yell at each other all you want to about it. There's an interesting discussion to be had here, but it's been lost in everyone trying to score rhetorical points by sniping at one another.
I especially do not like it when you make up a name for the group of people who disagree with you. That way leads to community fracturing, and I will not have it.
It is perfectly OK for people to think that the Fort is, overall, a pretty great campsite (because it is!), and it's also OK for people to think that Disney has not managed it well in the past, present, and future (because they haven't!). People who hold these views are not enemies and, I believe, should stop arguing with one another.
I swear I feel like Dad stopping the car sometimes...

Oh, and in an attempt to head off the RCGB:
Disney does deserve props for the new Fort WIFI system. It looks like it will be done right and ahead of schedule
Now if we could get the same crew to work on a new pool and some new loops....
Damn, sorry!   Couldn't help it. Too much of a Retro-Grouch

I had posted this previously on another thread....

Very nice statement Grumpy.  I like what you said.
One thing I've been thinking about  back in the early days is,  how many of the campers had TVs in their campers?  And now, how many don't have TVs?
And now the Fort is putting in Wi-Fi (is that correct term) poles to , hopefully cover the camp ground.  Yes it's taking a long time, but if it works, there are going to be a lot of happy campers.  And I'm sure it's not inexpensive either.
    ======================================================================================================
I think this is part of the underlying issues with the Fort and the reason so many people are "complaining and unhappy".
Yes it's going to be expensive, probably more than putting it in the hotels, but probably a lot less than wiring the theme parks themselves (IMHO).
People feel like the Fort has been treated like the red headed step child for quite a while, but when it first opened and there were only a couple of Disney Hotels, it was treated like royalty and was up there with the hotels in amenities and uniqueness.
Over the years it's been given just enough upkeep and resources to keep it barely in line with Disney standards. Inquiring minds want to know why the little things can't get repaired in a timely fashion like the swings, decorations, etc.
Yes, it's still a great place and unique with it being on a theme parks property and we all love it, even if it's a love hate relationship. And like others have stated the prices are high, but it's all inclusive and you don't get nickeled and dimed with extra site costs, like extra for electric, or more that 2 adults/ 2 kids.
I know it will never happen, (unless there is a Disney Deep Throat hiding in the shadows out there) but it would be interesting to see the price per room upkeep compared to the price per site cost. Again, to me it would seem that the Fort has a lot less day to day costs/upkeep to keep it running so their profit should be higher. You would think just the cooling/heating costs for a hotel would support the entire Forts upkeep.
This is not meant to get people all fired up again and it's not a complaint, just an observation.

So it seems that if they theme it up a little bit and enforce all rules evenly that would fix it for most people?
