  1. I believe it. Some friends of the family own a very large contracting company in the Houston area. Apparantly, they have been questioned by Disney about their capabilities, such as steel erection, concrete pouring, and man made lake construction experience.
  2. What the fort, indeed! We spent our 10 yr at the Fort too. Honeymoon was at WL....good times.
  3. I am pro GAG, but I would have hoofed it over to WL for a grilled chicken salad and some lobby time. BTW, I say we all chip in $1 for that picture program. :whew:
  4. Wow! Cool stuff, TCD. This settles it.....the Fort was definitely a lot cooler back in the day.
  5. Maybe it is just "meadow" now that the 600 loop has taken over the meadow next to the store.....leaving only the one meadow by the pool?
  6. We were at the Fort at that time too. You're right....the yellow flies were terrible.
  7. I guess we don't need a "call for trip reports" over here at FF.net. :rofl2:
  8. Y'all need to man up and get a dog that's not a wuss....my dogs laugh at fireworks and fight Communists in their dreams ;-)
  9. Another Boardwalk fan here. My wife and I love to visit without the kids....just stroll around and take in everything. I really liked it when they had the crepe and ice cream booth. FWIW, Big River Grille has a location in Chattanooga. It is always great. The one time that we ate at the one at the BW it was "meh".
  10. Being at the Fort as a child inspired me to take my own kids there. I can distinctly remember wondering what things would be like when I visited with my own family.
  11. I love these things. I was pissed when they changed the recipe. I once ate 3 or 4 in a row. It made me a bit sick, but it was worth it.
  12. Just MHO, but save your money. It cost $75 for my family of four to eat there. The kids just pecked on theirs....they would not let them split a plate. Would have been better and $35 at Cracker Barrel.
  13. I wish that I could somehow rig up the monorail recording to play in my truck every time someone gets in.
  14. Wow, what an adventure! Props to you, sir. This is one of my favorite TCD TR's. It's not everyday that you can read about such things.
  15. It was......it is camping time fo sho. Thanks! We love it. Diesel Fuels are a twist on a long island tea....only with more octane. They will destroy you. No, I only had one, and I was sideways half way through it. Thanks! Ha! it is an acquired art for some. The beach there is nice. Thanks. Your trips are what gave me the idea of a dad and girls trip. I didn't take site pics...only notes about ones that I really liked. The reserve america site has good pics of each site. No, I haven't been to Blackwater. I hope to get there soon.
  16. No, this isn't a TR about mullets. Although, I did see a few. Nope, this is a TR about a work/play trip. 7 days....4 days of work training and the remainder spent relaxing. So the original plan was to roll out with the entire family for a Sunday to Sunday trip. My wife's family lives in Gulf Breeze so she would hang with them while I was at work. But plans had to change. My wife signed a new position at work, and her training conflicted with the trip. So I had the bright idea to leave early (Friday) with the kids. My plan was to spend two nights at Blackwater River SP having some quality dad/d
  17. Yeah it is at least 10. It's an easy drive. I pulled our 5'er in without any problem. The CG has good roads, and is plenty easy to navigate. We had a huge pull through site that was very nice. Take a hike while you're there. I did the mtn bike trails too. The back country is very pretty. Although, I would carry pepper spray. I saw plenty of wild hog sign, and there are bears in the area.
