oft013 23
It's nice to see maintenance being done. We have had several trips where everything was starting to look run down.
Travisma 1,317
Spoke with the workers on 7/3. They were attaching copper caps to the top of the log ends. They said they had to replace the top 3 logs due to rot. Now they are protecting them with the caps. Some have already started to turn green. BradyBzLyn...Mo

Tri-Circle-D 2,059
The old look-out on top of Pioneer Hall has been replaced with a smaller, solid-walled version. fladogfan aka Gretchen 259
Did you ever see anyone standing in the old one? Looks like it would be a good view from there.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Did you ever see anyone standing in the old one? Looks like it would be a good view from there. One of my unfulfilled goals in life was to get up there and see the view. I was never able to find access, and I'm not sure there was access, other than from the roof itself. Now, it looks like there's no point in going up there. TCD

Grumpy and Grandma 740
Very interesting. I wonder why the change?Either critter issues (birds, bats) or even water issues with the flat roof where it met the wall and the posts. 5kidsmommy
DaveInTN 3,247
Obviously I have a spy in my midst who alerted Disney to my plans. That was going to be TCD's and my next great mission.....to scale that roof and raise a Four Seasons flag on the top of Pioneer Hall. We made it this far a few years back. 5kidsmommy and BradyBzLyn...Mo
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Obviously I have a spy in my midst who alerted Disney to my plans. That was going to be TCD's and my next great mission.....to scale that roof and raise a Four Seasons flag on the top of Pioneer Hall. We made it this far a few years back. Excellent photoshop job. It looks like we're really up there on the balcony. But that's not possible. Here's a question I have. You know this tower they have on the official Fort Wilderness logo?: I always thought that was a stylized version of the look-out that used to be on the Pioneer Hall roof. Am I right?: If not, where else is there anything in the Fort that looks like that? So, now that they've replaced the look out with that stubby, solid-walled thing, what happens with the official logo? TCD
