How cool is that!  All I was seeing was something that looked like a wedge of lettuce behind the grid and all of a sudden, there it was, the Mickey :)

I think Polly Luna has always had nice lines and now they're even nicer.

The color combination is one of my favorites. Here's one of my creations, notice anything.

fladogfan aka Gretchen got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in RUMOR: Backlot Tour closing for Pixar Place expansion
This from the Orlando Sentinel this morning. September 26, 2014

Disney’s Studio Backlot Tour turning out the lights Saturday
By Dewayne Bevil | Staff Writer        A long-running attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is fading to black. The Studio Backlot Tour, a significant part of the theme park’s opening-day lineup in 1989, is taking its last visitors on Saturday.

The Backlot Tour was designed to show behind-the-scenes action of a working studio that pulled double duty as a theme park.

“That was the core attraction of the park,” said Robert Niles, editor of the Theme Park Insider website.

In the beginning, the tour took hours to complete and included walk-through segments where visitors peeked into TV productions     underway. Trams took guests of the park — then called Disney-MGM Studios

       — down the faux New York street and through a residential area that included a facade of “The Golden Girls” house.

Over the years, the park’s emphasis morphed to entertainment and attractions based on films. New offerings, such as the Toy Story Mania ride and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, ate away at tour space.

Today’s abbreviated tour clocks in at about 30 minutes, including a demonstration in a gigantic water tank and trams that roll past movie props and into Catastrophe Canyon, a supposed film set where floodwaters gush and    an oil tanker explodes about every five minutes through the magic of moviemaking.

“The whole romance of seeing where movies are made really began to die as people got the ability to make    movies themselves,” Niles said. “The only movie production that’s happening in there are people holding up their iPhones and uploading to YouTube.”

Brian Clouse of Auburn-dale made his final trip through the Backlot Tour this week.

“It’s bittersweet that it’s leaving. It’s the last remnant of the studio, per se, so that’s sad,” he said. “There’s so little ofitleft.…It’salmostlike,‘Are we losing anything at all?’ Basically, it’s Catastrophe Canyon and nothing else.”

Disney World has not announced its plans for the bulk of the Studio Backlot Tour space. On Monday, Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and a snow-play area, parts of the park’s “Frozen”- related activities, will move into a building at the end of the tour. That area had housed an American Film Institute exhibit and retail    outlet.

“We know our guests are eager to hear details about our new experiences, and we look forward to sharing more with them at a later date,”    Walt Disney World spokesman Bryan Malenius said Thursday.

The Backlot Tour is the second Hollywood Studios attraction to close within a month. American Idol Experience, a singing competition, ended its run Aug. 30.

“So much changes all the time” at Disney World, said David Heck, who lives in Reading, Pa., and visits Florida every few years. “I wonder when is it going to stop, when are they going to say ‘Hey, this is it. This is as far as it’s going to go’?”

Kerri Jungeberg, on a two-week family vacation, said the Backlot Tour was fun.

“I like it is because it’s different,” she said. “It’s not just roller coaster after roller coaster after roller coaster. It’s like real experiences.”

Jungeberg, who lives in St. Louis, was surprised the tour is ending.

“I’m glad we came today because we’re going to come next week and it won’t be here,” she said.  [email protected]   or 407-420-5477

I think you are discounting the fun of just being a with a group of fun people at an amusement park.  I know the stated focus of the day is the coasters, but I would probably just as much if not more fun driving, walking and waiting with the group, esp. some WW I know!

I'd like to see some rule about running into people. Scooters and strollers are notorious for this. If you can't operate one properly, then you shouldn't be.

If WDW/Reedy Creek rescue had to help the campers, they would not have used lights or sirens if at all possible.
So something could have happened during the night and was quietly taken care of.

Not saying it happened but, if it did, other campers might not have been disturbed at all.

Housekeepers/maids ( mousekeepers) even though they don't clean the RVs I bet they or some of the people who work around the camp property can be sweet talked into answering questions.
A cruise I was on early this year all of a sudden had a door with do not enter signs on it.  Oh boy did we have fun with figuring that out.  None of our ideas were close.

Turns out someone did die in there of natural causes.  How we found out the truth was, by just talking and being friendly with some of the cabin stewards (the guys that cleaned the cabins) and one of them told us.  It was sad because it was an older man on the trip with his family.

Oh dear - I haven't been on here in awhile but have to chip in here and offer my personal rant!

I couldn't agree more with this:

"Heads out of their butts and their phones……..."

And the other comments about common courtesy and civility which I find seems to be completely missing from some people's psychological makeup.   WE LOVE THE FORT   -  BUT -- whenever we are there the complete stupidity of some individuals is incredible.  Like others here we have been forced off sidewalks, the road in the loop, even walking paths by twits on golf carts.  And again -  it IS NOT ALL THE GOLF CART USERS, it's just the morons who think because they've rented this thing, and they're on holidays, they can ignore all common sense.

Our favourite spot is down at the back of the 1500 loop along the canal - it's peaceful and quiet but our last trip we watched three families on two sites, with three golf carts between them, chew the bejeebers out of the backs of the sites.  The area (between the 1500 and 1600 loops) is very sandy, the grass barely able to take hold and whenever it so much as sprinkles rains it turns into a mud hole.  But the children who ranged in age from 4 or 5 to maybe 11 or 12 were the ones driving the golf carts in circles, running up and down the slope, and doing figure eights and wheelies with their assorted siblings/friends all hanging off the backs and sides and running after them trying to hop on!   And where you might ask were the parents - sitting there talking and ignoring the action behind them.  Go figure!

Being the worry wart I am (hubby says more like a fuss f**t) by day 3 I had had enough and called the security to complain that there were very underage kids riding DISNEY CARTS!!!!  Yep, all three were Disney golf carts.

Three things I learned out of this:

    1.   Disney security came down and said kids weren't supposed to be riding the carts and went away.  Cart riding resumed when Disney security left.
    2.   When families left Disney sent one of their engineer types and a crew down to "repair" the damage done.
    3.   Disney will NOT simply seize a cart that is being inappropriately used and take it away for the idiots using it.

I do not know if there is any solution to this problems.  There are many people with really good solid reasons to use a golf cart at the Fort and who are responsible about that usage.    But there are other people who essentially shouldn't be allowed to use so much as electric roller skates!!!   I haven't a clue how to balance that issue as long as Disney can't sort their own act out and be consistent about ALWAYS applying the rules they make.

Ok - big breath now - thank you all for allowing me to rant.
    Feel free to ignore.
I feel much better now.   :-)

I really don't care much either way about this one.
Can we fix the one side of "Future" World that completely sucks though?
And put in Star Wars Land already?
    And add to Pixar Place?
And redo the final scene of COP?
And demo the Stitch ride to add extra bathrooms?
And bring back the real MSB?
    And bring back paper FPs?
And learn how to repair canvas?
    And fix the Yeti?
    And fix the falling rocks?
And bring back a self-serve dole whip stand?
And give-away a river country panther hunt?
I mean, IMHO, the. Maelstrom going away is the least of our concerns.

Where ever you decide to watch Illuminations , as Mo said, be sure you are up wind.  If the wind/breeze is blowing in your face so will the smoke from the fireworks.
Don't know if they are still there, but the torches around the lake give a good indication of which way the wind is moving.

They can work the system though.  Last New Years Eve we had reservations at the Wave for lunch.  On December 30th, I checked MyDisneyExperience and noticed that my reservation was gone. I then got my reservation confirmation # and called Disney reservations.  The woman there was very nice.  She looked up my reservation and said, "Well, you had concierge at the Boardwalk cancel your reservations yesterday afternoon."  When I told her I wasn't even at the Boardwalk yesterday she tried calling the restaurant and all they could say was try coming over anyway and hope to get in, the system would not allow them to override the booking.  When I asked how I would get in to park at the hotel without a reservation given it was New Years Eve, I was told that I could try just telling the guard I was hoping to get in.

I immediately managed to find (and book) a reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe and then called the Boardwalk asking for a manager.  After about 15 minutes I got to speak to the operations manager who was extremely nice.  He also pulled up my cancelled reservation and confirmed that concierge cancelled them and he said he was sure it was an accident.  I asked him if it was possible that a person in concierge had someone ask for a reservation there and he cancelled my reservation to make another.  He said he certainly can't say that wasn't the case.  He sounded like he would look into it.  I told him I'm not asking for anything, I just want to know what happened and let him know what could have happened.  So he then took some information, gave me a case number and told me to stop at the Downtown Disney Guest relations and pick up a $50 gift card to pay for my lunch at the Grand.  I was totally shocked and told him that wasn't necessary.  He then told me his "little Disney secret", which is if you are nice and not demanding to them, they will be very nice back because they appreciate it.  To me, this was customer service at its best.

You forgot the part where you get there at 10pm after driving through a snowstorm, dig out the plow truck, lug all your stuff up the hill (including 7 gal water jugs), shovel a path to said outhouse through 3 feet of snow, then sit on the couch with all your outerwear on while you wait for the stove to crank up and get the temperature above freezing (and occasionally above zero), then heat up water for your hot water bottles to thaw out the mattress so you can go to bed.

Update!!  Yesterday, the carpet felt dry to the touch and seemed o.k.   This morning  I was down on my hands and knees crawling all over my carpet and I'm thrilled to say that I didn't find one spot sticky!!   Sure seems like the manufacture should put this warning and fix on the label of the plastic.   Perhaps RV dealers know about this cure?? One certainly hopes they treat the carpets before being sold.
