Ants in the Cheerios - Final Update 12/21
Travisma replied to CCIntrigue...aka Gwen's topic in Trip Reports
If you can spare the time, make it a point to go to AKL. There are a ton of fun things for kids. Good report, but I can't see any of the pictures on my work pc. Will have to wait to get home and read it again. -
We live just West of USF. Door to Outpost is about hour 20 to hour 30 minutes, depending on traffic. A lot of that time is just getting away from Tampa itself.

WANTED: Quiet Site that backs up to water
Travisma replied to jadzianala's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
I guess when we stayed at 1500 we didn't notice the pool party noise because we were there! :rofl3: The noise I noticed the most was the beeping of the busses every time they had to kneel. That was annoying even at the 2000 madhouse. It cuts right thru everything. -

Great report. I need to go back and review all of the pages again, especially on a pc that will show all of your pictures! -
THE TRAVIS'S UPS AND DOWNS FORT ADVENTURE 10/18

Yes, they provided it, but failed to mention what it was for. I figured we blew it in case of trouble, don't know who would hear it or respond, especially on our clandestine voyage up behind 1500/1800. Maybe it's to scare gators. My granddaughter was dying to try it out. They could make the canoe trips so much better if they would just clear up the canals and get more water in them. Heck more people would fish if the canals looked better. That's just a no brainer and wouldn't cost them a lot to clean up and maintain. Like I posted earlier, the Fort didn't just open and they don't -
WANTED: Quiet Site that backs up to water

We stayed in 1801 on our visit in August and it was a quiet loop. It looks like 1809 backs up to the canal and possibly 1812. -

BONUS Trollistic type artsy fartsy pictures. I don't have a theme, and I don't claim the same artistic eye. You get what you paid for... Either a dried up octopus, or mastodon tusks rising out of the tar pit. Just an interesting tree I just love how they built the canal over the road. Underneath the bridge that crosses the pond to the campfire area. Yes there are still old fence posts around the Fort SCORE!!! A goal post tree -

Monday Another great FL day. Sunny and dry We are up early thanks to our built in Comfort Station alarm clock. We have breakfast, and with a heavy heart start breaking down our site. It goes fairly well. My wife and I had a discussion whether or not to keep my and my granddaughters bikes off the truck, but we decide to pack them. She had wanted to ride around the Fort some more. I don’t even bother calling the Outpost to see if we can get a late checkout since it was denied on our two previous visits, and there was still no house phone It’s odd that at 99% of the hotels we visit -
DaveInTN’s March 2010 Trip Report – The Quest for Ms. White
Travisma replied to DaveInTN's topic in Trip Reports
We did 2 tables and 2 kitchen sinks. One thing is to ask for the whipped cream on the side, and then you can actually see what you are eating. Our table didn't, the other one did. Scoop out the ice cream and goodies, then slop on the whipped cream! And you can ask for/substitute ice cream flavors also. Did you get a Dole Whip yet, or did I just overlook that post? And who ever says girls can't eat as much as boys have never had more than 1. Our 3 girls all ate way more than my son ever did growing up, and they can still out eat him 2 to 1! -
Need Some Help with Possible Trip to LA

Guess I was thinking TCD and daughter could do more of a Cannonball Run type of drive ! :rofl2: -
I just called the Outpost and the CM said that the wagon rides are still being held 10/31. Now she told me you could get them across from Pioneer Hall (done that) or at Creekside Meadows the group camping area? Huh?

Best Trip Ever, but Rain, Rain, Go Away!!
Travisma replied to fowlandfishmommy's topic in Trip Reports
But TCD, it's the Disney MAGIC you are paying for! How much Magic does KC have to offer? Stockyards? It's the same with concerts here in FL. I guess we're captive audiences. Groups that sell out for a week up north and have reasonable ticket prices come down here for 1 day and we pay 3 times as much for a ticket. And it is Disney trying to make a killing because they know then can. They raise ticket prices every year and people still buy them. Supply and demand. But then again it's the same with Busch, Six Flags, even movies and state fairs. -
I'm tired of the entire Fast Pass mess. Personally I think it's ruined the whole Disney experience Some of the replies on Kenny's site say the same thing. It used to be everyone waited their turn to get into a ride or attraction. Yes some waits were longer than others, but that was part of being at Disney. You planned out your day around going to a popular ride first then working your way to the less popular. Last time we went to the MK we waited forever in line for Peter Pan and never did get in. They just let all of the FP people in and then about 10 of the regulars. The line nev

It was just an idea. You'll be spending two days flying (maybe more). Whats a couple of more days added on for driving and bonding time ? :hah: -

Crocs have been my salvation! I hate shoes, long pants and long sleeves. Guess it's because we've been in FL since 78. Being bundled up, working in sleet on top of a telephone pole was the deciding factor for leaving NY and heading south. That might be anaother reason why less is better. Both of them love shoes, any style, any kind, but they are for "going out" and not for hanging around grandma and grandpa's house. The first time we went camping we let Kadence do some of her own packing. We asked her if she had a couple of pairs of shoes and she said yes. We figured sandals, s -
It's like DaveinTN says, it takes a lot of pressure off of you about trying to see everything in a day. But are you going to utilize it enough to get your moneys worth? If you only use it 4 days out of the year then no you probably wouldn't. We have AP's for Busch Gardens and Sea World and it's nice just to go for a couple of hours and let my granddaughter do what she wants. But then again we are only 10 minutes from Busch and an hour from Sea World.

How much time do you have? Have you looked at rental cars and driving cross country? That way you could take the rest of the family, and while you and 1 daughter go to the game the rest can spend time at Disney! I got a Hertz rental for 12/26 thru 1/2 for about $180. The prices after new Year day should be even less. Have you asked Jason to look into packages, flights, rooms, etc? -

$100 ouch! When my kids were younger we took them to different Disney dining venues. We did Hoop De Do, character breakfast at the Grand Floridian, and another character breakfast at Downtown Disney on the paddle wheel boat to name a few We always had a great time, and I'm sure that those 70's and 80's prices (Hoop De Do about $22) were in line with todays considering cost of living adjustments. You just get caught up in "THE MAGIC" and dive in head first and not think about the cost. At least the Hoop De Do and most character breakfasts are buffet/all you can eat and the food is -

Thank you. Yes I am proud. They are good kids and fun to have around, but they make you feel your age. It's a lot different chasing a 4 year old around at 59 then it was at 29. That was a good solution you came up with. We got the evil eye just walking around the loop. We raised 4 kids and now have the 2 grandkids, so we know that kids will be kids and want to have fun, but we always kept a tight leash (and eye) on them and made sure they didn't bother other people no matter where we were. But these kids and their parents had absolutely no consideration for anyone else in the loop. -

Thanks. Our oldest grand daughter has been talking about real camping for about a year. We found a great tent on Craigslist and decided we would give tenting a try again. So far so good.
