A true Larrywannabe would fry up 300 lbs of pork skin 6 months before the trip and divide it up into 8 ounce bags for convenience. -
Tire recommendations?
ftwildernessguy replied to geoffdaddy's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
Not a bad idea to check those manufacture dates. Personally, I never buy a tire that wasn't made in the same year I put it in service. My Marathons were made in February and installed in April the same year. -

Larry disagrees with everything I said. Then he repeated it only with more words. -
Tire recommendations?

I am running Goodyear Marathons now and am happy with them. That being said, I believe Goodyear stopped manufacturing them when they began production of the Endurance line. RV owners are a funny lot. A number of years ago, Carlisles were considered some of the worst tires you could buy for your RV. Now, I have heard many people speak highly of them. Maxxis tires were considered the standard a few years ago, now not so much. I have run Marathons, Powermax, TowMax and whatever else the dealership or manufacturer has put on a trailer without incident. Keep speeds down, don't overload -
AED

By the way, nitro, as is true with many meds, does expire, especially after having been opened. If you aren't going to replace your stock, don't bother having it. Expired nitro is worthless. Again, thankfully it is not available without prescription. -

You may, however, consider carrying some low dose aspirin in your camper, which can be administered if you suspect a heart attack and is much safer than nitroglycerin tablets. -

I am thankful the current aed's wont allow a shock to be administered if it isn't necessary. I am equally thankful nitroglycerin tablets aren't available in Wally World next to the vitamins. -

A three month extension on a membership to a store that may not exist tomorrow is like being offered a free return trip ticket on the Titanic. -

I plan on doing this with my joint - just putting a sign on the door when I am ready to close. I can't wait to see the look on the poor schmucks face when he shows up to work that day! -

When I was a POW in Nicaragua, the local kids sold them as food. I am sure I ate iguana eggs for breakfast more than once. -

The trouble with Larry the raccoon is he can be such a know it all. Don't ask him about tires. -

That would be Larry and Lester, my trained raccoons. They raid freezers and ice machines for me to keep my ice supply full for Kungaloosh. -

I have a dog who loves to go for walks at 4 am. Vacation makes no difference to him. On our trip in October, on one walk around the 500 loop, we saw armadillo, turkeys, raccoons. I usually seen 10 or more deer at a time on the trail to the lodge when I take my early morning bike ride. Sometimes they are a hazard, since they are not really afraid of humans, they will stand on the trail itself and I have to weave my bike in and out of the group. I have also seen bald eagles out by Bay Lake. I have heard owls many times, but they are somewhat elusive and I have only seen them a couple times -

81 in Pennsylvania used to have that honor. I am glad it has been dethroned. I can think of many other highways that are nearly as bad. The DC beltway, highway 101 in CA, highway 1 in CA just to name a few.
