  1. x2 on the DampRid. We buy it at Walmart, usually the little tub, which is refillable. Seems to last longer than the hanging ones and may be alittle cheaper. We keep it in the camper anytime we are not camping. It has made a big difference.
  2. and it is not just in the parks. I see and experience similar things every day. On the bright side, I also get Hi and Thank you from a lot of people...sadly they seem to mostly be people my age or more. I used to tell my kids, and now tell my grandkids, that they are the only person they can control, so don't worry about those they can't control.
  3. Welcome, and all the above x2. I suggest checking with Katman1356...Jason. Jason fixed a similar situation for me and I recommend his help highly!
  4. Cabelas in Mitchell is worth a visit. The Corn Palace (also in Mitchell) is fun and free. Good chance to get out and stretch. When are you going? Watch for Rally Week...the first full week of August. It will be just you and 50,00 bikers! We have been then more than once, and it is neat and no problems except that prices go up that week and reservations are harder to get. x2 on the lighting ceremony. x2 on Custer State Park. Great camp sites in the park, and you can reserve ahead online. Just do a search on SD state parks. x2 on Wall Drug. Get a free bumper sticker to start conversatio
  5. very carefully (do NOT get your fingers pinched...and dont ask how I know that) look to be sure that the "latch" inside the hitch that clamps down on the ball is not bound and is open all the way. common area to get caught in a partial; position and keep the hithc from dropping onto the ball.

  7. You can also get a rubber coller that is tapered, slides over the end of the hose and fits most if not all the connections. I found ours at walmart for about $5
  8. We love them. We try to hit the parks early then back to the camper for a long lunch/nap break, feet up, enjoy some relaxing time (with me usually soaking my feet!). DW usually starts the crock-pot with dinner before we leave so she checks that at lunch time to be sure it is not burning down the entire Fort. (she is my favorite worrier about such things!) Then back to the park late for the evening. Helps to stay out of the heat in the middle of the day...or at least that is my theory.
  9. Great! Keep practicing. I took our kids to a local empty parking lot to let them learn to backup and practice. Lots of open space. Having a roadside service is a great way to feel more peace of mind as you go down the road. Just take it slow and easy and have fun! :bravo:
  10. Love the pix...thanks to all. They are really getting me looking forward to our Jan 25 arrival!
  11. Being shipped by way of Nigeria...just need a small deposit! I would RUN and not look back!
  12. x2 for Jason! I finally stopped :banghead: and he made it happen! :jumpforjoy
  13. If the motor and transmission are in decent shape, this should tow your pop up fine. For a '97 that is not a lot of miles. Keep the oil changed! We have a history of buying 4-5 year old suburbans, because the DW likes suburbans, they fit all the grandkids, and tow our 22 ft Terry fine. I try to get them with about 100k miles, drive them to about 250 or 300k and then sell them for enough to make a downpayment on the next one. Works out fine so far. The current one will be towing (Lord willing!) our camper to the Fort the end of Jan, with about 165k miles on it, so far!
  14. I remember my dad buying one of the first VW campers in the US in '58. We did a lot of camping all over the west in that van. It was slow, and cramped for the 6 of us, but some of the most fun trips I can remember! I saw this a week or so ago...may be my last chance! http://www.firebox.com/product/3644/VW-Camper-Van-Tent
  15. Goofy's Girlfiends? Giddyupandgo Groupies? Grumpy's Girlfiends? Great Gifters? Gone Goofy? Grumpy (squared)? may have to spend some time in the thinking room.... :dass:
  16. OK, so I am the ignorant new guy...thought of lots of possiblities, but can't come up with it: "GG"???
  17. Northern Kentucky to the Fort: 884 miles each way. We also pull our camper trailer to South Dakota (1265 miles) and to Durango Colorado (1435 miles). Tell DH to just take your time, don't get in a hurry and enjoy the trip, as well as the destination!
  18. good idea... I have several, but use the most: RV ParkReviews.com Sanidumps.com Business Locator i Exit Lite
  19. Thanks to all for the warm welcome, and for all the great help. and special thanks to Jason (Katman) who got us all the dates we wanted! Whoo-hoo! We will be (Lord willing) at the Fort Jan 25 - 30!!! :partythree: Jason is good, and fast...thanks! (I on the other hand may be slow, but I do poor work!)
  20. Thanks to all for the welcome, the suggestions and information. Glad to be here! I sent an email to Fiesty's Fun Time Travel, so maybe they can help. If not, we will just pick a camp ground on the way and plan to arrive at the Fort early on Sunday...it's all good either way. It will be Florida and WDW in January with no snow, no ice, no chores, no work. Gotta love it!
