Was at the Fort today. The dog park is now  newly sodded. The fence needs to be finished and a few other items cleaned up.

Glad to hear that things are moving along.  Also glad to hear about the new sod!  That's a great way to "refresh" a well-used dog park... although most don't have the resources Disney does to just pull up a truck and re-sod the whole thing.

Talked to a friend involved with this. The picture shown here sounds fairly accurate. There will be no house boats, they were cancelled. No plans for Discovery Island, nor will there probably ever be. There was a waterfront restaurant planned but that was removed. The A frames shown in the beach are lodging like the cabins at Fort Wilderness.

That plus all of the construction flags and stakes in the field next to Pioneer Hall and even further to the east.
Some genius made the decision that this real estate was too valuable to leave it as an amenity for lowly campers.
This is a big FU to the Fort and its loyal guests.

    Until they either
1: Come up with good/clear construction plans that have recognizable current landmarks on them
    2: Construction fences go up
A lot of this is speculation
Architectural drawings/paintings as opposed to blueprints/site plans are at best fanciful interpretations of someones ideas of how the finished project will look.
Lets hope they painted this after a long night of adult beverages.

I'm just glad they see the potential in the RV market.  I also hope that this will mean that the Fort is here to stay for another 47 years.

I figure that the CM lot is now the construction lot. Or it's in the footprint of the new resort.

If/when Disney prices us out we will be at some other campground having a good time sitting around a fire. We enjoy camping wherever it is....from Disney to boondocking at a dirtbike race. We're campers.

Is it just me, or does the movie listing make no sense whatsoever when you try to find a specific date?
Why not put all the like days together all the Sundays in this box, all the Mondays in this one etc.
Instead you have to hop all over trying to find a specific day and date.

The trail between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness was closed today.  Here is the Wilderness Lodge end:

Here is Clementine's Beach.  You can see the markers:

The construction fencing right up against the back of Pioneer Hall:

The area between Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Pioneer Hall is now a construction parking lot:

The former entrance to the BBQ and River Country:

Try for the 300 loop and you’ll be closer to the dog park, the pool and the Meadows Trading Post. I think you’ll be fine.

This is hard to hear... that green space is such a pretty area.  We loved to walk over that way and visit the barn and ponies.  Always so peaceful.

Perhaps this will be a good thing.
I’ve heard some complaints about how the Fort is ignored by management and neglected.   From freeloaders at the pool and picnic pavilions.  Etc.
You know they’re not going to ignore a brand new dvc.   There will be new restaurants and bars for all to enjoy.  Maybe they will build a nice bar, on the water, with rocking chairs on its porch.
Maybe a quick service food court and/or an elegant dining restaurant on the roof with a view of the MK fireworks.  (Hopefully they’ll have sushi).

I’m hoping the new dvc will allow some of us that can’t afford an RV and a stay at the fort a place we can stay and enjoy the fort and all it has to offer.
We really enjoyed our stay at WL and enjoyed taking the boat over to the fort.   And it would be nice to walk out of our room and enjoy the fort.

    I hope so also.
But in the end the bean counters will always win.
If they can cut down a 1000 trees and increase their bottom line $100 they will do it.

I also hope that they are (very) careful to preserve the Fort.  I do have my doubts though, hopefully I'm wrong.

The Fort Wilderness Bus Stop at Disney Springs is ALLLLLLLLLLLL the way around the back. As Yvonne and I were limping towards the bus stops, I saw the Wilderness Lodge/Contemporary bus stop really close. We hopped on there, got off at Wilderness Lodge, and then hopped on the Fort bus. Really nice if you are along the "Yellow" line as you can stay on at Settlement.
It's also helpful if you started your day with your cart or bicycles parked at the Marina and did some park hopping or hopped to Disney Springs

I won't disagree but one could also say labeling everything is an overreaction or not putting in the effort to determine if their products use items on the list. I also won't deny the list has some questionable materials though.
The initiative process is common in western states. It has its pro's and con's. In California I think it has been somewhat out of control for a long time. It is good as it allows for direct democracy to override the state legislature when they ignore the populous and do what they want. Its major failing is in a large state like CA it is relatively easy to get find enough people to sign petitions for fringe or not well thought out ideas. It has also become more open to corporate and special interest manipulation in recent years as means to get around the state's business and liability laws which goes against the original intent of the initiative process in the state constitution. Having lived in the state a couple of times I think even with its problems it is a good process. Most initiatives never make it to the ballot or fail the vote and it is a way to correct legislature inaction or overreach. One thing I think that would help is to increase the 5% of the population requirement for petitions to something like 10 or 15 percent to force more thought into initiatives early in the process.

Yeah that was a big goof.  I think it was a typo and should've been Universal Studios since they opened in 1990.

Glad we were not there.  Camping at the fort is turning into like staying at a crowded value resort.  We are slowly migrating away from Disney.  I think after Galaxy edge opens, we are done with the mouse.
