We hit a few days of 80s humidity in the last couple of weeks, and now we're back to "normal" - which is A-OK with me.

I think I'd burst into flames if I was there - after first melting into a puddle.

Much truth in that article. David and I have already been talking about fall 2016 being our last trip there for a good while.  Once our next APs have run out, and since we're on a fixed income, it's getting harder and harder every year to come up with the funds.

Wow- that's the first artwork I've seen that shows the ride is basically going to be the same layout, just with Frozen stuff added.

One of the problems with the old ride, in my opinion, was that it was too short.

I guess the length of the ride isn't going to change.  With the addition of the Frozen stuff, and guests being subjected to that song, I'll bet the complaint will now be that the ride is too long.

Did you notice that Disney has already declared "Frozen" a classic and put a short clip in the montage?  I am sure it will be but doesn't it take some time before you can call it classic?

The UI is very important. Too many sites today worry more about fancy graphics when a "green screen" layout would be much more intuitive and efficient for the given task. To this end I would take a hard look about how to differentiate the marketing and advertising (if using) content from the working content such as order forms or search filters. One way to do this would be making a mock up or story board using a graphics editor to let you play around with the functional flow of your website. Not only will it let you see and think about how the various content lay out should look but can be used as part of your requests for estimates. Being able to provide clear and concise requirements will go a long way to getting a valid quote for the work and save you additional costs by having a frame work for the programmer to work from.

For those too young to remember what a green screen is. It is a term used to refer to old dumb terminals that used a text format (and later simplistic graphics lie pie charts).

    Rules are for fools.

I say do whatever the hell you want.  If Disney isn't going to enforce them, why should I worry about them?

Next time I camp at the Fort, I'm parking my RV in the 15 minute Meadows trading post parking for the week, and letting Anna drive the golf cart wherever the heck she feels like driving it.  And don't even think about telling me I can't....that wouldn't be very magical.

keith_h got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Favorite Campgrounds in Your State
    I have two.

Mt. Morrow State Park is our favorite, "Let's go hiking and do other outdoorsy things", campground. It has a long trail system that we like a lot along with a smattering of historic stuff. You can also fish the river but I wouldn't eat them due to PCB's from the old aluminum smelter that was up stream. It is only an hour and a half drive which makes it easy to leave on a Friday after the DW gets home around three and have plenty of time to set up and relax. Same with the Sunday drive home. It has electricity at some sites but no water or sewer although there are plenty of spigots to fill tanks on the way in so water isn't a big deal. Assuming you wait out the early rush the dump station is easy to get into and out of. The bathhouse is kept cleaner than many places I've stayed and has plenty of showers. We also like the fact that there is a good mix of tents and RV's through out the campground with most of the sites being roomy so your neighbors are 20-30 ft away side to side and 50-100 ft on the back.

For a bit of hiking and trout fishing but more for a place to stay when we go to Asheville we like Lake Powhatan Campground. It is run by the forest service and has a mix of full hookup, electric and unimproved sites. The majority of the full hookup sites are fairly level given you are in the mountains and have asphalt pads. On the sites we've stayed at we weren't able to see our neighbors about 20 ft away with the intervening trees. The bathhouses have separate bathrooms and showers and were kept very clean. The staff appeared to us to be mostly retired couples which is one of the reasons I think the place is kept so clean. Where rangers have other duties, the other folks main focus is on the campground. They do all of the check in, act as campground hosts and do the general cleaning/maintenance.  The campground is about a ten minute drive to Asheville and just next door to the North Carolina Arboretum. The road into the place has a couple of very tight S curves but should be manageable based on the number of large rigs I've seen there. While your mileage may vary, the gate house closes at 10PM but the couple of times we have stayed there and had a late night planned in Asheville the staff gave us the code to be able to return later than that.

I know this is a necro thread but just thought I would update results of our overnight stays at Kentucky campgrounds.

Elkhorn was a nice family oriented campground. We had a 30A back in site along the creek/river for $26. Most of the waterfront sites would not accommodate anything much over 20-25 feet but they do have larger sites on the interior loops. The bathrooms, though older, look to have been recently remodeled and were very clean. It was quite peaceful and quiet. Rene and I have decided to use it as our stop over for future trips. A quick warning: The entrance drive is narrow so look for oncoming traffic before going in.

Unfortunately I cannot say much for the KOA campground we stayed at on our way back home. It is located off of I-64 just before you get to Ashland. The site was very level side to side and not too bad front to back. All of the utilities looked to be fairly new and were all in working order. The bathrooms on the other hand were atrocious. There were bodily fluids on the floors and everything needed cleaning. There was a sign posted that they only monitored the bathrooms between the hours of 10AM and 11PM adding that if you you thought they needed attention to go to the office to report that they needed cleaning. Based on the way they looked in the morning they certainly don't attempt to clean them before 10AM.  It is also a party campground. From the time we arrived until well after quiet hours there was hollering and bottles clanking and management appeared to be some of the participants. We will definitely pass this one by in the future.

This is a very cool upgrade. Thank goodness Disney farmed it out to an outside vendor and didn't let the MDE and MB crew try to set it up. I would hate to have to schedule my laundry 180 days out only to find out when I arrived that the system had crashed and Disney put a bucket and a HDDR wash board in front of the door.

It is scary.  A few months ago I was checking my on-line bank statement status and found a series of charges from Las Vegas to Hollywood that added up to over $2,000.  Havenot been there in over 15 years!  My son the cop suggested, and i di, call the police, report it, and call the bank ASAP.  Thankfully the bank was very helpful, got me a new ATM card, canceled the account and moved everything, and replaced the money.  Filing the police report helped a lot in gettign all that done.  It worked out fine, but it was a stressful day or two, and we still dont know how or when it happened that someone got my ATM card info.  Now I make sure I check the bank status at least daily for charges.  It is a strange world we live in master jack!

To say I find your post rude, inflammatory, and harshly accusatory would be an understatement. You have crossed the line with your accusations and rudeness. It is absurd for you to comment on finding a reservation at a given time because something happened to open up while you were on line and I was not. Absurd and in the future you might consider being a little less condescending to people looking for help or information from seasoned veterans. I don't appreciate your words and implications. But that's okay I have no interest in belonging to a group that bullies other members.Following up with the admin who pmed me about how to deactivate thanks to your rude accusations about a situation you were ignorant of but chose to behave in this manner. I have no further response to any of your future spewings.

That's ridiculolous, what manager doesn't know what is and isn't working at their facility. I'm sure its been said before, but the Fort seems more like a training facility for management. Personally, I would have been on a golf cart myself with your luggage and cards the minute I hung up the phone. Customer service is priority and especially when the management was totally incorrect from the beginning.

I think the gate controversy clearly necessitates a TCD trip to the Fort just to confirm exactly what the proper answer is.  Since asking just one CM will not give a reliable answer, and having TCD spend the weekend asking various cast members, it may be necessary for his to spend a few different weekends over the course of the summer attaining this valuable information for us.
