https://www.rvpluscard.com/ This is what I have
This gives 8 cents off per gallon of diesel and 5 cents off regular fuel. It also sort of a credit card, but you have to pay balance off every month. We use it all the time when we travel. Now all the Flying J's and Pilots that we have come across are about the same price as surrounding stations so there is a savings with the card.
Also, if you are a Good Sam member, I believe if you swipe that card you save 3 cents per gallon. Flying J/Pilot also have an awards card that you can get form them that is also 3 cents savings per gallon as well.
    Best Regards,

I finally heard from my older sister.  She made it out of Port St. Lucie and up to some family we have in NYC.  And now the great news. Friday her doctor called her and told her that she doesn't have breast cancer as they first thought.  Tests were negative.
    Thank you God!

parrothead7368 aka Norm reacted to DaveInTN in Silver Creek Falls (Or A "Sign" Of Things To Come)
It has been written on other threads that the theming of Wilderness Lodge is changing somewhat with the upcoming DVC additions. One of those changes is that Silver Creek Falls, the main water feature at the resort, will be renamed Copper Creek Falls. That change made my family sad, as we have a history with Silver Creek Falls, as I'll explain below.
You see, both my wife and I are from a small town in western New York called Silver Creek. And both of my parents grew up there too. So imagine our surprise when we made our first ever trip to Disney with our kids in 2001, during which we stayed at the WL, and stumbled upon this sign.

    Those 3 girls are 21, 19 and 17 now.
Six years later we had begun RVing and camped at the Fort with my parents. We took the boat over to the Fort to show my parents the sign, and continued what has become a tradition to get family pictures in front of the sign on every trip to Disney.

Fast forward....most recently, INC and I got a picture in front of the sign while on a date. We also stayed at the Lodge before our cruise on the Wonder this year.

And on our trip to the Fort a few weeks ago, I got one last picture in front of the sign of my parents, who spent part of the week with us. My Dad turns 80 next month.

I figured that might be the end of the story, as the retheming of the Lodge is proceeding at a rapid pace and will be completed before we return to WDW.
But that's not the end of the story.
Wondering what would become of the sign, I contacted the GM of the Wilderness Lodge to tell her about my family's history with the sign and our love of both the Lodge and the Fort. We traded some emails, and she assured me that she would try to find out what would be done with the sign as construction continues. I last heard from her a few weeks ago, and had not received an update since.
    Until today.
A large box arrived at our home today. So I opened it.

    Mabel is curious too.

Can you believe it? I was blown away. Also included in the package was a beautiful print of Silver Creek Falls, a WL magnet, and a very nice note.
I've heard of pixie dust but this is something else.
Do you now understand why I hate Disney so much? [emoji1]

We tow a 12,000lbs fifth through Tenn all the time.  Our 2012 Ram with a diesel will slow our truck and trailer down to about 45mph on the steepest hills along I-75 and I-40 with no break input.
Going I-40 from Ten to NC that is some of the twistiest-est highway and steep i've ever driven.  Twice i got the feeling of tail wagging the dog, and just gave a little manual trailer break to help keep everything aligned.
I think you'll find that with the engine break, and the trucks controle of the gears will keep you at a very safe and reasonable speed.  Like it was mentioned before, follow the big rigs and make sure to give them some room.  There's not need to overtake going up or down a mountain, the extra 2 or 3 minutes arnt worth the effort.

When my middle daughter and I went to Martinsville, VA for the race a few weeks ago, we stayed at a Quality Inn in Greensboro, NC. My daughter thought it was the greatest until that night when the kids started running the halls and the parents were loud and drinking in the rooms next to us(soccer tournament). The next morning she looked at me saying how they were loud and I said, "That's why we camp" and she said, "Uh huh, I get it now."

The thing is that the ones that had the kids were actually picking a fight with the guy with the 40 foot that was telling him to get the hell out.  The fort rangers were going so far as to HELP THEM PACK THEIR CRAP while the wife watched and the kids played.  They then got all bent out of shape when everyone in the loop turned on them and took the side of the gentlemen with the 40 footer that wanted to park his RV.  By that time, there was not even a space in overflow for him to put his RV.
To his credit, when they finally did leave, he parked that thing in one try and worked his way around Chris's truck (with a little of super geek's help to not ding his beautiful rig with a sign post).  He got a round of applause from all who were watching the spectacle.
Please remember now, this was at 6:30pm and we were supposed to be having a GG at the time!

parrothead7368 aka Norm reacted to Tall Lady in Did online check-in change?
Hey gang, we haven't camped since 2014, so I could be missing something. However, our online check-in didn't allow for loop choice. In fact, it's set-up like a resort (asking for upper floor, etc). I ended-up choosing the accommodates fold-out awning option. There wasn't a loop option or a comfort station option. There was also no place to write a note. I do plan to fax 5 days ahead. However, I was just wondering if this is the new norm. I haven't found a thread that discussed this issue. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you.

Same here.  Maybe they were only at places where there were preschoolers.  In fact, I have seen fewer preschoolers this weekend than I have ever seen, but perspective is everything.  Having a middle schooler/almost high schooler makes my eyes see a different spectrum I guess.  Funny how that goes...

parrothead7368 aka Norm got a reaction from bhall in Gas shortages in the south?
Has nothing to do with pumping of the gas. They need money for the Transportation Trust Fund to fix and maintain the roads. Of course, only in NJ do we have a dilemma to see if all the money should go to the TTF or it should be up to the legislature to dole it out. That decision is not as easy as it sounds, because supposedly if it all goes toward the TTF the government is going to borrow against it anyway. I need to get out....

parrothead7368 aka Norm reacted to Starbuc71 in ABC tv show Blackish episode at Disney World
I have never watched this show mainly because all comedy sitcoms nowadays push the envelope further than they should, especially when it's considered a family show.  This show is a perfect example. I was more upset about the actual show than Disney/ABC trying to cash in on a 1/2 hour Disney advertisement. Last night I watched this episode on demand with my 7 and 10 year old. Normally they get a kick out of these types of episodes because they can always say, "I've been there, look at that and of course, we can't wait to go back" This show is so unrealistic and basically a bad example for children.  Maybe it was just this episode but when the one child said, " I hate my dad or I hate you dad" and the fathers response was, "you're all dead to me", I shut it off. Even my kids made a comment about that. Again, it's TV in general these days, but at least on a so called family show and especially on a Disney episode, they could have done a better job.  Full house was not like this..lol

I agree with you, but not that there is more sites available, I wouldn't turn my nose up to this loop. A site at the Fort is generally better than a site elsewhere.

I would have no problems staying at a campground, but don't charge me ridiculous prices for a few hours of sleep. I'll pay $20 just to crash for a few hours etc. On the way home from Disney we stopped at a KOA in Rocky Mount, NC, they actually charged us extra for two kids. We arrived at 11pm and left by 8 the next morning. They barely touched the ground let alone use their facilities.

Hmmm...that surprising.  My guess is it's a recent acquisition and they don't know the CW "way" yet ?

We enjoy CB as we like eating breakfast there...but we've learned that not all allow overnight parking.  Dothan, AL for example does not, but I believe the reason is because they had some theft/vandalism issues so they thought it best to stop it.  I've called several others in different states as those ones have said yes, so I do think that most allow it...for now.

You don't need a license but are now required to register the drone as long as the operator uses it strictly for recreation. If it is under 1/2 lb there is not a registration requirement at all. If you are operating the drone for business it requires a remote pilot airman certificate. There are other restrictions for non-licensed operators such as line of site but I suspect few will know about these or bother learning.

    Good job, Picture Thief!
Tell Denise and Ed TCD says Hi, and that they can come over here anytime if they'd like to get accurate information first hand instead of relying on stuff that you and others have to steal and post.
And since you apparently can't take a hint- it is not cool to steal photos from another site without giving credit via a link.  Which you cannot do over there, as one of the remaining minions will rat you out to Webmaster Kathy and company, and you will be flushed.
