GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to ftwildernessguy in Disney Settles Class Action Lawsuit for Visually Impaired
The last time I was at Disney, it seemed that the largest group being discriminated against was the Terminally Stupid. Disney does not do nearly enough to make all attractions accessible to them. I don't know how they possibly navigate the web site, and transportation is impossible for them to utilize. Please consider the Terminally Stupid on your next Disney visit. Take a moment to help them find the restroom they are standing right next to, make sure they know when the 3 o'clock parade is, and aim them toward the entrance to an attraction rather than the exit.

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to Tri-Circle-D in Shoes
We try to wear flip flops around camp. Those can stay outside in the rain.
Regular shoes get kept with the clothes, and are put on if we are heading to a park, and then taken off back at camp.
Flip flops wouldn't be a good idea at a real campground with rocks and such, but they're fine at the Fort.

GaDawgFan.....Kelly got a reaction from PureTcrazy...rita in Camping site I found
This site looks pretty cool and has some good info and recipes, so I thought I'd share it. We used to make the omelets in a bag he talks about, and I had forgotten about them, so I'm glad to rediscover them. I love an easy breakfast with little clean up!

Just don't let Disney know we think it's a good deal to camp there. If they find out I'm sure they will double the rates.

To the best of my limited knowledge, no other camp ground in the nation has an EWP. Correct me if I'm wrong Lou. :clint:

I may be a little late on this, but instead of using that direct link if you order, go to the Amazon link on the main page and search and order it from there!! That way Fort Fiends gets a cut of your order!!!!!

GaDawgFan.....Kelly got a reaction from PureTcrazy...rita in Disney Camping Sing Along
I'm sure this is old news to most of you, especially because it appears to be a DVD of an older Disney sing along, but today I discovered this DVD where the characters camp, explore River Country, and Discovery Island. At $5.99, I I figure it will be great to get my son even more excited about our trip. Plus it will be neat to see places I went as a kid that are no longer there.

A Magic Bullet blender, some red solo cups and a well stocked liquor cabinet. You can survive without anything else.

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to Tri-Circle-D in The WITSHDTTSTA Thread
You know, it's been a while since I checked in on this thread. I got lost a while back.
I still have no idea what the title of the thread means, so I am not sure if I support everything which has been planned or not.
I'm so sorry, but I didn't know that I was supposed to choreograph the flash mob. It's not a problem, though, since I am an experienced flash mob participant. It's true: I was in the mob for the Christmas Parade taping at the MK when the Jo Bros were last there. I think I still remember most of the moves from that, so that gives me a good start. My favorite was called the Thunder Clap.

Dear TCD, you are being way to short sighted on this project addendum. Why not refurbish River Country with said large machinery?

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to Tri-Circle-D in The WITSHDTTSTA Thread
Preach it brother Dave!
My girls, who love all things Disney, hate Lemonade Mouth too.
Me? I've never seen it. Nor do I intend to.
Are you overreacting?
Heck no!
Enough is enough.
I am hoping to be at the Fort around Thanksgiving.
Here's what we need to do:
1. Get a copy of Snowball Express.
2. Gather up all of the new poles they have placed around the Fort to block golf cart access.
3. Use the poles for a bonfire at the campfire area. While we are at it, maybe we can throw the new Settlement Trading Post sign on the fire too.
4. I will have my cousin Yuri arrange for access to the projection building.
5. After the movie, we go hotwire a back hoe from the Golden Oaks construction area, and re-dig the deep end at the pool.
6. Someone can bring in a flock of peacocks, and we can release them around the campground.
7. If we have time, we can go look for Melvin the Moose.
Who's with me?

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to CDNCruiser in Avg. Stay/Avg. # of Days in the Parks
We visit the Fort at least twice a year and stay for about 2 weeks each time. We have had annual passes since we retired.
We go to a park most, but not all days. A normal day sees us head to the park just after rope-drop and stay until noon.
We normally spend the afternoon at the Fort and then often head back to a park for a few hours in the evening.
Life is good when you are retired and can tell time with a calendar rather than a clock!

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to alexwyattmommy in Avg. Stay/Avg. # of Days in the Parks
Aw Lou, it is just for fun.
I promise we won't make spreadsheets and charts to display how long one should stay at Fort vs how many days they should go to the park.
Okay, let me fix that. I won't post the spreadsheets and charts. :)

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to HappyCamper...Deb in I Know We all Complain
I think most (sensible) spreadsheet folk (like me) put together a spreadsheet-o-fun just to pass away the hours, days, weeks, months that come before the actual trip. You'd vomit over my color-coded spreadsheet, Lou. It goes from "set up camp while kids tour FW" to "stroll along the boardwalk to Epcot after the boat from HS" to "enjoy early dinner at lunch prices at Biergarten before processional". It's all about the dreamin' of our big trip.... ^-^
Now, I am NOT a "gotta go" type of person when it comes to follow through at all. Going with the flow when we get there is what I'm all about. (That is as long as we adhere to the Disney data on dining reservations I have noted on my spreadsheet...I mean, come on, you gotta give me that...)
Now, as for apps, I have several for Disney loaded. Trivia to dining information to wait times. What have I really used it for? I'll tell you. About once every day or so, while my DH and I sit and talk about finances, kids, home repair, or the (cold) weather we have, one of us will lighten the mood with "Hey, only a 20 minute wait for Soarin'" or "How about some Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup for lunch?".
I think the Type A crazies you mention are truly a rare breed and will find themselves losing it about an hour or two in to the vacation. :1sm056pullhair:
Most of us spreadsheet and app folk just wanna extend the magic in our own OCD way....
:grill: PS: According to my current spreadsheet, we will be "grilling at our campsite on New Year's Eve" this year. Stop by for a burger. :) You can "head to the marina for fort fun and fireworks" after too.

GaDawgFan.....Kelly reacted to Otter Spotter aka Debbie in Things That May Help (please add)
If you're going to be at the Fort for a week or more & didn't bring bikes with you (and you want to bike ride), don't rent bikes from the Fort. Go to Wal-Mart & buy a cheap one. When you're done with your trip - pay the bike forward to someone else. You'll end up saving $$ over the rental cost and you'll make another camper's day! :siren:
