Living with the Land Inspiration
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to HappyCamper...Deb's topic in Crafting: Camping and beyond
Fascinating project. Please keep us posted. Maybe this will become the next "Mickey Lamp" craze. Seriously, the Land is a great place. Years ago, our GD's kept saying "My daddy grows those". -
I don't know if you have tried the busses, but we ALWAYS use the busses...or the boats and monorail. In fact we go to EPCOT by boat to the MK, ferry to the TTC, and monorail to EPCOT. Or you can boat to MK and monorail to the TTC and transfer to another monorail to EPCOT. We prefer to let the Disney drivers do their stuff while we relax and enjoy the trip to whatever park. And WELCOME to the Fiends forum. As you can see from the post count of the two previous posters, some members are very active and many members have a wealth of information about the Fort and Disney in general. :welcome:

Mickey Mouse stake lights
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to rvsqueke's topic in Crafting: Camping and beyond
I wonder if there's a way to work these using the rechargable solar lights made to line walkways. Normally the heads would cover the solar panel and probably keep from recharging. -
Last time I used a Disney modem...before we bought our own Verizon MiFi... I had trouble accepting and reconnecting every evening. After several successive called to tech assist, I found out my KTTW was not on file to charge. A new KTTW and i was in business for the rest of our stay. But we greatly prefer the MiFi.

On two trips to the Fort, my wife ended up in the hospital for several days...blames me for her injuries. I was the house husband staying at the Fort and taking care of our special needs kids. We were brought food by persons previously unknown. For the first incident one fiend and her daughter the gymnist went to the hospital and brought Judy back to the Fort. In the second incident, another fiend visited her at the hospital, visited us several times (with Buddy), made a grocery run for us, then brought Judy back to the Fort. We recieved many visits and electronic queries asking about her

Is this normal?

Dave, That squirrel was probably an advance man for Ms White. I hope INC has your back. -
No trouble at the Fort (yet), but we had squirrels in the attic and outside walls on and off for several years. Finally had a gutter replaced along the entrance wall eave. Hopefully they critters all got out before the closure. One company wanted about $2k to surround the entire eave system with heavy metal (the material, not the music).

Since you stated a preference for a non-pet loop, I recommend the 1200 loop. We have stayed there our past two trips and found the sites to be big, and for some reason often not filled. The back outside toward the road gets a little noisy with bus traffic, but was not a real problem inside with the A/C running. We have also stayed in the 500 loop a couple of times, although we did not have a pet. It was good also, and we enjoyed meeting some of the dog-walkers near our site. Some of the dogs are what I would call exotic, and sometimes Lou and Buddy would stop by (but you just gotta live wi

800 loop info needed
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to duramaxcindy's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
In case no one has mentioned it, there is a purple line on the road after the MK parking booth that will take you toward the right toward the Fort. But watch for busses which will already be on your right going through the booth.. -
BYE BYE Main Street Bakery
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Discamper's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We stopped in McDonald's near Dinoland once. It was close and we were hungry. Haven't been back. We choose other eating places more themed to the WDW environment, not commercial places that are on every street corner at home. Don't let them mess with Cosmic Ray's (MK) or the Commisary (HS). I forget the name of the place at EPCOT, but Shawnee loves the meatball subs. -
how much does it cost to...
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to ann0d's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
It's great to know there are members who can help each other. ann0d seems pleased. And you may get to meet Donnie, too. Well that's the price you have to pay. :rofl2: Enjoy your stay. Do you have a schedule yet? Lots of us would like to meet you. -
Is the Little Mermaid ride wheelchair accessible? More than one wheelchair clamshell in the lineup? How long is the ride portion...once you get to the clamshells? Is it mainstreamed or is there a separate entrance for handicapped entrance? Other details we should know about? Thanks.
