I don't often visit this thread, but can a recipe be any easier? I gotta try this.

Children with autism
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Keylime359's topic in Camping with DisAbilities
What a beautiful summation of your life (every day) experience. We have three special needs children, all with physical and mental developmental delays. Two will likely always be close to total care. Not sure about the baby yet. We have hope for all of them that they will develop to the best of their abilities, and they will be happy. -
Camper keys made
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to PGHFiend's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We get most of our keys copied at Ace Hardware. I don't know if there's one close to the Fort. Edit: Looks like the closest one: South of WDW. Ace Home and Supply Center 7848 W Irlo Bronson Hwy Kissimmee, FL 34747407.507.3910 -
We pretty much leave all the foods except refrigerated stuff and breads in the MH. It is parked in the driveway and plugged in most of the time, with mild heat or A/C as appropriate for the season. Much clothing stays out there except coats and shoes we might need soon. We use it as our convenience store so when we run out of something in the house, we know where to usually find replacements.

Nemo
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Retired and Happy (Ken)'s topic in Camping with DisAbilities
Thanks. Now we know what to expect. (And the Beauty and the Beast used to have wheelchair seating right in front of the stage. But we have been there since the rear seating has been in place.) -
Does the AK musical of Nemo have the same handicapped accommodations as does FOTLK? That is, is it also a theater in the round, and is there similar seating for wheelchairs around the front couple of rows? Thanks.

We are also dictated somewhat by the location of the utility posts ansd slideouts, but we also have a cargo trailer we tow for our special needs equipment ans supplies that goes at the back of the site. I also hate it when others are not very concerned as to how i can or can't get into my site. When we bring a van, we usually try to put it in the overflow lot to offer as much front space as possible for our neighbors. At times, the van is brought back for use that day, but it can be moved if someone nearby has a problem parking. We try to be good neighbors.

The worst thing about our oven is lighting it. I can't reach the pilot knob, hold the door open, and reach the pilot location at the same time. I need to work on this. As for a convection oven, I have used it a couple of times, but had to get a wire grill to put the food on so the bottom would cook. From what I have read, it is not much different from a regular oven except the time or temp must often be adjusted from the recipe.

Longest stay at the fort?
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to FEARtheEERS's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We have stayed 25-30 days every year through December for 15 years or so. Also assorted short visits, maybe 5 nights at a time. -
I haven't seen 1200 or 1300 mentioned. We liked 1200 for the larger sites that gave us plenty of room in front and behind the site to decorate for Christmas. We haven't stayed in 1300, but it is convenient to the Meadowes area.

Overflow lot
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Starbuc71's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We're also in that choir. But we're goin' to win the lottery when it gets big enough. -

But Jen and SuperGeek: Aren't you raking in piles of money running this board? -
We have gone for about 15 years now and have NEVER driven to a park or DTD. We figure we're on vacation and relaxing includes letting the Disney drivers do their thing and get us where we want to go. And when we are there with three or more wheelchairs, we often have had to ride two busses (there are a few with space for three chairs, but not many) and the wait is rarely more than 15 minutes or so. As I said, we're on vacation, so we don't rush or overschedule.

Gwen, So sorry for your loss. I remember how I felt a few months ago when I realized all of my parents family generation was now gone. -
Tips for buying golf cart
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to weekender's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Oops, Sorry, Zane. I confused you with Starbuc71. But I have considered redoing our GC for several years since a few things have rubbed paint off in our trailer. I would also go the DIY route. -
Tips for buying golf cart
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to weekender's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Zane, Just curious...How much prep work was there to repainting the cart and what kind of paint did you use? I love your Herbie and I think we camped just down the loop from you last year (Christmas 2013). -
Just saw on Facebook rumor about the Fort
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to PrincessNana's topic in Disney Rumors Board
But Dave, Didn't Walt say the campground would remain as long as the lawnmower was on/in that tree? -
Rides for Under Three year olds
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Keenfamily's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
Yes. There are many rides that you can hold the youngest one on. Small World comes to mind. The big coasters are probably out, but there are shows/activities that are small-fry friendly. Carousel of Progress. Living With the Land. The Great Movie Ride. I'm sure there will be others chiming in here to offer more and probably better suggestions. -
First timers
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Goose's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I don't recall seeing it mentioned, but if you do decide to go the AK, be sure and take in Festival of the Lion King. It is a high energy show, now being performed in a new venue. I haven't seen it there yet, but we try to take it in every trip. I also understand there is a Nemo show in the same part of AK, but I have not seen that at all. It's on the list for the next trip.
