Alice, It's a nice gesture, but the way the system works, it is highly unlikely a Fiend could grab your cancelled reservation. When you cancel, your site and days go back into the pool for whoever is next for a reservation matching your setup....dates and/or site preference. Like Nacole i am sorry you had to cancel. It's never a good thing to have to cancel a Fort visit. Hope you get back soon.

Newbie
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Mikeypro's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Welcome Mikepro. Another for AU (EE-64), but married to a UA. Raised in Montgomery (DW in Mobile) and we're now in Stone Mountain. Hope you enjoy your stay at the Fort. We won't be there until early December, but maybe we'll meet up someday. -

Nacole, The Fiends have had a couple of Grand Gatherings at the Stone Mountain Campground. What site number were you in? -
Questions about Renting an ECV

Refresh my mind. Can you RIDE on a ECV on a bus or is it verboten or the driver's choice? -

MB's. Bah! Our kids can't get their arms twisted to line up with the readers that work. We wind up putting them in pocket or purse. In fact I keep mine in my pocket until needed, but it's more troublesome than reaching for a card.

Not enough pixie dust for broken hearts...

So Sorry for your loss. We realize these 4-footed things are family members and it hurts to lose one. -
Boy! That crane is huge. Hope it's well anchored. And some folks around here leave their Chrisatmas lights up year-round, anyway. But not hidden.

Hey! COP is one our favorites and usually our first stop in the MK, ...even if it is a little dated in the newest scene. I like the old sets, but maybe that's because I'm old, like them. I think Lou is just too young to appreciate what we had back in the day. And I'm trying to teach Shawnee to sing the song. "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..." Now that the song is in your head.... enjoy. :gaah:

Dish Network
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I have had Dish for quite a few years at home. For a couple of years we took a home receiver out the the MH and used a portable antenna. It got to be such a problem we quit and just used cable wherever we were (usually WDW). We have a dish on the roof of our newer MH, but have not tried to use it yet. i understand it was set for Direct and needs to be retuned for Dish. Also I'm not sure it will work with our home receivers. And yes, Nacole. you will need an antenna to pick up the satellite signals and bring them into your receiver. I don't think I could watch any more sports than Di -
Questions about Renting an ECV
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to CCIntrigue...aka Gwen's topic in Camping with DisAbilities
Hrumph. Dollywood trams can take an ECV or wheelchair. This is a good thread. We have been using a manual wheelchair for Shawnee, but as he has grown and we have aged, we are considering a power chair for him. He had one years ago, but his teachers didn't want to bother, so he never got proficient and went back to manual, which he is quite good at. We will meet with his chair technician tomorrow on other chair matters and will ask if the power chair can be grown for him, or if we would need a new one. We also have a six-wheel Jazzy that needs new batteries that might do for him. Both c -

Dec 2015 booking
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to GoLobos's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
1600-1900 are the Full sites. They are a little more distant from many activities, but with busses, golf carts, bikes, or occasional walking the activity areas and external bus/boat transportation can be accessed. A main disadvantage is some sites are a long way from the single bus stop that serves all four loops. And there are those who say watch for 1900 in the flood season. Enjoy. -

We have a 10x10 canopy but no sides. We have priced sides, but not moved on them yet. Sides cost about what a canopy costs, and we have used the canopy as a garage for the GC. Maybe a 10x20 canopy and forget the awning.... -
Atlanta Airport Tell Me About It
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to mouseketab.....Carol's topic in Travel and Transportation
I haven't flown since '95 and never will again. Too much hassle. But MANY people still do it. If I can't get there in my MH, I don't need to go. -
How about a piping hot apple turnover...from MacDonald's? Quality stuff. I might try making an apple pie at the Fort if I could reach the oven knob, the pilot location, and keep my head out of the oven all at the same time.

A site for an RV and a tent?
Retired and Happy (Ken) replied to Phillygal's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
All the busses will be labeled as (color) Settlement or (color) Outpost. If you get into 1400, and I prefer the outer loop of that divided Loop, the yellow bus serves that street. There are also orange and purple bus lines on the other side of the Fort and through the cabins. Yellow also goes to the WL when they leave the Settlement. -
I was working for the USAF and was TDY at MacDill AFB in Tampa. Ironically the entertainment at the motel we were staying in was an Elvis impersonator. He cancelled his show for that night. We left soon after that, so I don't know how long he was down for. And I still tear up near the end of the movie "Delta Force". Real life events.
