  1. If it is in the budget I would go with the c. My grandparents did a trip similar to that once and said there were several scenic views where they stayed over night in their c. Would have more of a freedom of choice in where and when you stop as opposed to finding a hotel or trying to make reservations. On the other side it may be more difficult to get around in any citys, they towed a car to go sightseeing and such. Anyway you go it will be a great trip, one I hope to make sometime.
  2. They are a big group from lighthouse Christian school I believe. They rent out a bunch of cabins, have a decorating contest and the parades. I know they were here last year about the same time. Usually anyone with a decorated cart is invited to join. We did last year and hopefully again tonight. Thanks Beckers for posting the time, I haven't run into anyone from the group or that knew what time the parade would be tonight yet. I will try to get some pictures tonight.
  3. Wednesday night around 1130pm we heard some fireworks going off, they sounded close but I didnt venture out in the cold to see if I could see them. Now its bugging me trying to figure out where they were coming from. Anyone have any idea?
  4. I have noticed a lot of underage drivers as well as a lot more golf carts going the wrong way around loops then ever before. While I have nothing against kids having fun there was a group in the 500 loop this weekend that thought they owned it. Kids and parents would stand in the middle of the road and look at you like you were imposing on them by trying to walk, drive, or ride your bike through "their" part of the loop. Yet I got royally yelled at by a bus driver for passing a bus that was not even stopped but supposedly had his flashers on. ( He was going one way I was going the other). I
  5. This will be the first time we will be bringing the golf cart up in the bed of the truck. I have practice loaded and unloaded it in the driveway on level ground. Today when I loaded it I back the truck into a shallow ditch and that made it so much easier (read less stressful), is there anywhere at the Fort that could be used like that? I know out in the parking lot there is a very small dip that I backed the flatbed trailer in to load and unload but not sure how much that little bit will help when it comes to the height of a F250 4×4.
  6. The only time we stayed in a preferred loop it was the 300 loop. If you use it 300 has its own comfort station with cart parking, I believe 100 and 200 share a comfort station. If that helps any.
  7. I habe seen trailers parked in the over flow lots that seem like they have been there for awhile. I know there was a pop up last year that was there a good month. Though when I had reservations booked for every weekend of Flower and Garden and asked if we could leave the trailer in overflow during the week I was told no! ( I spoke to multiple people "manager" both in person and on the phone). We ended up canceling most of the reservations as it was to much money and work to tow the trailer back and forth every weekend. My thought on it was it would be no different then someone who is on a c
  8. [quote name="disneyfam" post="415213" timestamp="141727471morning, I use the gas perks at Winn Dixie for our trips. It is maximum of twenty gallons but it is something. Not sure if they have those supermarkets in Ohio. Good luck. Publix also has a coupon out this weekend if you spend 50.00 in store you can purchase a 50.00 gas gift card for 40.00. I got the shell gift card hoping it can be used alomh with our Winn Dixie fuel perks. Even if not its a good deal. Sorry rtguy007 doubt any of this will help you out i dont believe they have either store in Ohio.
  9. Sounds like someone forgot to program in for daylight savings when they set it up.
  10. Hello, I believe there is a way to link reservations or you can have it noted on your reservation and faxin a site request to be near each other. Im not sure there is a guaranteed way and I think it would depend on how busy the Fort is. Im sure someone with more/better information will be along soon. Are you all booked in the same level of site and checking in the same day? Is it possible for you all to check in at the same time?
  11. I might be the only one but I dont mind the walls up makes kona feel a little more private and secluded
  12. Welcome! Looping in a golf cart or on bikes is a nice way to spend some time at the Fort, there should be some decorated sites during your stay. Visiting the other resorts to see the decorations and nice leisurely Fort days are always great.
  13. The only one of those we have been to is Kona (we go every trip), great food and great deserts. In off season we have been able to do a walk in at lunch (usually late lunch). Busy season or dinner I would definitely try for a ADR.
  14. We have a small trailer but have seen larger 5th wheels in the 500 loop. 540 and 542 are almost straight back ins 542 being almost if not a straight shot. Getting around the loops can be a problem even with our little trailer and truck depending on how people decide to park (trucks, toys, golfcarts all out on the edge of or in the road. I would suggest walking the loop before you go in to check it out.
  15. We do similar to Carol. I believe in the tackier the better, lots of garland maybe some plastic decorations, what ever you like or looks good for you. In past years we've done just the green tree looking garland with decorations. If you have a Hobby Lobby around you they usually have good prices and lots of garlands, ribbons, decorations, and other odd and end things. Have fun with it. If you are going to be at the Fort the weekend of the 12-14 there may be a golfcart parade. A big group comes in and stays in the cabins and I know last year they did a big golf cart parade through the loop
  16. The amount is up to you, I think I have 4 strands 2 I picked up last year and 2 this year il be putting on. I think one strand will fit around the roof I dont dont remember exactly as last year we also had some solar lights on it that were similar. The problem with the solar lights was they were dusk to dawn type and every time we drove by a light they shut off.
  17. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Accents-Holiday-Home-Accents-Holiday-50-LED-Mini-M5-Battery-Operated-Color-Changing-Lights-TY397-1115-M5/202754438 We have some of these from Home Depot. They have held up well, work great and let you change things up from white to colored, to flashing and also have a timer setting or can be manually turned on and off. I debated going the battery and inverter route this year but these worked well last year and seem like less trouble then bringing an extra battery, charger, and inverter that I have to worry about charging and dissappearing. If you have your ow
  18. They were crazy Floridians then or recent transplants. Personally being born and raised in Florida anything below 75 is jeans weather and below 70 I break my hats gloves and scarves!
  19. Sounds like you packed exactly what you need! You never know this time of year in Florida, Saturdays highs were 75, today 84, tomorrow 57. Oh and dont forget your rain jackets, umbrellas, or ponchos it can rain anytime.
  20. If you have hand crank leveling jack this drill socket is great! It was my first convenience purchase for my TT. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001V8U12M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A small tool kit for the TT is always nice to have as well.
  21. Or whatever you want to wind up. Im sure everyone has seen or has these, but I have dismissed them the past few years. Well this year while digging through multiple boxes for lights and extension cords then sitting in the middle of the tangled mess of them I decided there had to be a better way. I was heading to home depot anyway so decided to pick up one and try it out. Im now in love! The first one I bought I filled with lights. Then read the package and got to thinking about the 3 or 4 extension cords I always take with or spend most of their life in the TT. No matter how n
