Let's just say I find FF to be more accurate than Disney's site or CM on issues related to the Fort.

Only 3 posts on this board and your expressed sole reason for joining is for bashing a well respected outside vendor.  Your line "I may even annoy Disney a bit about off property rentals" is really telling.  Are you the guy in charge of renting carts at the fort or is it one of your relatives who is a cast member in charge of the golf cart rentals?

I understand that you are unhappy.  I also understand that you have been on every major internet outlet you can find to vent your frustrations and wow, that must have taken up quite a bit of your time.  However, over here, we value the sense of camaraderie that people have here first BEFORE deciding to vent.  I just hope that you remember all of these words you have in print all over the internet and I hope there is 100% truth to them.  Going after a business in public can be a very dangerous thing if you don't tell the truth and nothing but the truth.  I have no monkeys in this circus, trust me.  I am just cautioning the unwise.

    Good job, Picture Thief!
Tell Denise and Ed TCD says Hi, and that they can come over here anytime if they'd like to get accurate information first hand instead of relying on stuff that you and others have to steal and post.
And since you apparently can't take a hint- it is not cool to steal photos from another site without giving credit via a link.  Which you cannot do over there, as one of the remaining minions will rat you out to Webmaster Kathy and company, and you will be flushed.

I'm not faulting you at all.  Who knows, maybe the new manager will surprise everyone and do something about it.
The invasion of the Fort by locals on Halloween has been a problem for much more than 5+ years.  My first Halloween night there was in 2008, and I was shocked by the number of people who came by our site on the 800 loop.  I'm talking the entire loop road full of people.  There is no possible way that they were all staying at the Fort.  I was there again in 2009, 2010 and 2011. 2009 was the year that a young girl was seriously injured in a golf cart accident on Halloween night by some drunk jackwagons horsing around on the 700 loop.  You would think some changes would be made then, but, despite repeated assurances that the management heard the complaints and would do something about it- nothing has been done.
I'm glad that you're going this year, and I am hoping that since Halloween night falls on a Monday that the crowds won't be as bad.  As I said earlier, it really isn't worth getting worked up over.  Buy the amount of candy you are comfortable distributing, and when it's gone, it's gone.  The whole mess only lasts a couple of hours, and the Fort will return to normal after all the freeloaders leave with their overflowing buckets of candy.
We will probably have this same discussion next year.  And the same thing will happen.

I don't disagree that there needs to be something done to curb the freeloaders that use the pool and abuse events such as tot and such. However as an annual pass holder there are times I may be on property that I'm not staying at a Disney resort and want to pop into a resort for lunch, dinner or even to just wonder around. That's where Disney has a problem, how do they verify that I don't just want to go to let's say Port Orleans to have a drink or a CS meal, or to the Poly for a Dole whip, or even into the Fort to buy something from one of the shops? They could beef up security for special events and holiday weekends only but then you have the problem of people at other resorts or that may actually be at a park not being able to go to a resort for a meal or just to look around without making a dining reservation. It would curb freeloaders but it would also slow down transportation and take a lot of the ease and magic out of getting around on property.
Wristbands handed out to guests at check-in would be the only thing I could see working for something like Halloween, and if word got out that they were doing that it might curb the freeloaders or at large groups. But how many campers would actually check for bands, I wouldn't turn a child away or deny them candy if they didn't have a band on, it not their fault.
I am all for a MB scanner at the pool!

Good advice, Derek.  There's a campground in FL that we once considered staying at.  It looked good online and had great reviews.  We went to see it.  The only way we would have spent the night there was to sit in the front seats with guns in our laps.

And this is why our society as a whole has gone down the crapper.  No one on the bus offered a seat to you holding a child?  Ignorant morons....
At my age I feel like I deserve to sit after a long day at the parks, but I will still get up for an elderly person, or a male/female holding a child, or a pregnant woman.
I've done it plenty of times when there were tweens and millennials too busy with their noses in their phones to have the decency to get up and give someone their seat that really needed it.

I have only ever tried to get into the Fort once when we weren't staying, we weren't even staying on property just passing through. I told them we wanted to go to the trading post and security checked an ID and told us to park in overflow and take a bus.
The end of September 2015 I was staying at the Fort and went to the beach club to wonder around (something we do often) and was told that they would let me park that time but from then till after Christmas the parking would be restricted to registered guests and those holding dining reservations at the resort. I didn't go back to see if this was true or not.
I would think unless it is a major holiday there shouldn't be a problem parking at the Fort and biking.

We have a KZ. We have had it almost 3 years now. No more problems then any other brand we have owned. I will say it has had no leaks which I really like. Tows well, we have a little more then12 thousand miles on ours. Like any camper took a few trips to work the bugs out. But no complaints. Our last camper was made by Forest River and we had more problems with it. But I just say find the floor plan you like and go with it none of them are made that great.

Generational and how and where one was raised. I'm 34 and was raised in Florida, grandfather is retired army, and the family business was in the tourist industry. I was raised to say yes or no sir/ma'am ( close family friends were/are called aunts or uncles) open and hold doors, be respectful and polite, wait my turn to speak, help or offer to help people, say please and thank you, offer someone a seat. I'm floored every time I get on a Disney bus at the number of teenagers to people in their 30s or 40s who will watch someone older, or with children get on a bus and not move or offer to move for them. I understand some people have disabilities or reasons they need to sit but not a bus full of people.
What gets me even more is when you do offer or do something for someone and don't get a thank you or any recognition. On our Christmas trip we were coming back on one of the launches a d the was a couple with their 2 granddaughters in strollers. We offered them help, and a ride back up to the parking lot on the golf cart. My mom had given them her business card while we chatted and when we got home there was a thank you card from them with a little note if we were ever in their area to give them a call.
But that's not the ME or easy thing to do, and that's all it seems most people care about now a days.

Cortezcapt (Derek) got a reaction from GaDawgFan.....Kelly in 2 year old boy grabbed and taken by gator at Grand Floridian
Sadly I don't think there anyone or thing to place the blame one. This was a tragic accident, it could have and has happened to anyone anywhere there are gators.
Growing up in Florida around lakes, the beach, and in the country one learns about all the things that can get you in Florida. Where to look, what to do and not to do, where to go and not go.
We used to spend every thanksgiving at a campground on lake Okeechobee there was a beach and we would swim when it was warm enough. One year I remember a cotton mouth swimming 8 or 9 yards from us, we stayed out of his way he stayed out of ours and we kept an eye on him till he was gone. A few years later when we went back the had closed the beach because a girl had been attacked by a gator. Multiple generations grew up swimming in the river here out in the middle of nowhwere, you could canoe the river and see gator but that didn't stop anyone. Now there was almost always a group and loud and obnoxious. Gators tend to stay away unless the are being fed or protecting there nest or young, but there is always the chance.
Unfortunately Florida gets a lot of out of state or foreign visitors who don't know what to do, avoid, or look for. When I ran a sightseeing boat we would stop at a sand bar and let people off to swim. I always told people what to look out for, to shuffle their feet and so on, things locals do without even thinking about it, if your snorkeling or swimming take your sparkling jewelry off just incase there happens to be barracuda around.
I grew up hunting and fishing and was taught to respect wildlife and treat everything thing as wild. The animals can't be blamed (though they usually are) and it's easy to put the blame on the person or family but most people don't think about things like wildlife.
I think a letter from Disney that went out to every person that checked in stating what kind of wildlife may be encountered on property and that all animals should be treated as wild and their space respected might help those that aren't aware of Florida wildlife be more vigilant and better prepared. Maybe even educational signs by the beach or somewhere in the resorts showing the types of wildlife and a short description of them. It would help people be aware of what is around them without screaming "stop, this thing might eat you". Many state parks and rest areas in Florida have signs or something showing poisonous snakes and other things to look out for.

Wow thanks for making me feel old! I remember when almost all pools (public or hotel) had Kiddie Pools. Guess I never really thought about or noticed that they have mostly disappeared or been replaced with splash playground type things.
I think it's probably another one of those "safety" things. I don't know how there are people still alive to have kids, it seems like all of the toys or thing I used to play with will kill you now.
