Oh, there are written rules.  I got a double sided page about transportation rules.... that aren't enforced.
I got a rule book listing parking, equipment, fires, quiet time, seasonal decorations, pets,  rules, none of which are enforced evenly.
Here is the  guest equipment rule
All guest accommodations must be contained to pad.  One additional dining structure may be placed off pad, not extending past 10 feet.

    Exactly right.
It's more evidence that the idiots who currently hold management positions at the Fort don't have the first clue about operating a campground.
In my early days visiting the Fort, they had CM's who would patrol the loops and confront guests who were being disruptive or not following the rules.
The last guy they had doing this was Brian.  May he rest in peace.  Back in the day, the Fort had a written rule that said you could only have one car parked at your site.  If you violated the rule, Brian would stop at your site and ask you to move the extra vehicle to overflow.  If you didn't, he'd stop by and ask again. Firmer this time.  If he saw an illegal fire pit, or some numbskull using Tiki Torches, he would do the same.  Sure, some guests probably complained about it, but the rules were followed, and the Fort didn't look like a trailer park.
Now there are no rules, and anything goes.  They have untrained idiots riding around on golf carts they call Fort Rangers. Those guys are worse than useless, because they pick on campers for minor violations, and let other worse stuff go.
All of this would be simple to fix.  Write some clear rules, and then enforce them.  The biggest problem is that there aren't any rules to begin with.  Obviously, the idiots in charge are happy to take the money from huge and unruly groups, and they look the other way from all of the offensive behavior that comes with the group.

If people want to waste their $$  treat their families to a wonderful time more power too them.
What aggravates me, is that all Disney has done is taken prime viewing spots (that have been available since the parks opened) away from the general public, and cordoned them off for the 1%ers.
In an area that maybe could hold 200-300 people, they set up barricades and tables for 50 to 75 people.  Disney doesn't realize that the general population is what keeps them in business year after year.  Sure, they will get families that just spend spend spend, but can they afford to show up year after year?
We were sitting at Aunt Pollys last Saturday when the Ice Cream Social started up.  If there were 30 people on it, it was a lot.  Now I know this is a money grabbing windfall for Disney.
What's the extra cost, some roll on coolers, extra tables and a couple of extra CMs?  Even with just 30 people they come out ahead.
But by having this on the riverboat, it puts it out of commission for probably 2+ hours to the normal park goers.
Sooner or later their core customers, AP holders, and the normal people that scrimp and save to come back every couple of years are going to get tired of being treated like second class citizens, and getting corralled into smaller and smaller spaces trying to see different shows and events.
If you want to upcharge so people get something special, then really give them something special by building new viewing area just for them!

We had a PUP, a tent like yours, a screen room, and a little dome tent on our site and didn't get any grief about it.
But we did have the PUP turned sideways on the concrete pad which blocked anyone from seeing the sand pad looking straight back.
Just print off a couple of the pictures TCD posted and if they give you any crap show them to them!

    Thanks, overpriced in my opinion.
I still miss being able to just get a regular meal at the Crystal Palace with out selling a kidney to afford the buffet, and making reservations a year in advance!

My sources tell me that they will be offering a new Evening Activity at DHS this spring....the Disney's Hollywood Studios "Disney Springs Spectacular"!!  This will be a hard ticket event, priced at $89.  The park will close to non-ticket holding guests at 5pm.  At 5:05pm, all ticket holders will be guided to the park exit, where waiting motorcoaches will whisk them away to Disney Springs.  At Disney Springs, they will be free to spend their evening in any manner they wish, including shopping, purchasing their own dinner, or just strolling along the walkways (for a small additional pedestrian charge).

Would they let someone use it for kids?  That would eliminate the issue of having to do ride swaps.

Not to be glib but it could just be because they're Disney and they can!  Or the cynical side of me says they may have got a great deal on fence posts and want to use them up.
Has anyone found out yet if they've put the fence behind 1500?

    Disney always wins.
They released their 3rd quarter earnings report this week.  And they're still raking it in!
You can see the whole thing here: https://ditm-twdc-us.storage.googleapis.com/q3-fy16-earnings.pdf
We have all been hearing how attendance is down in the parks this year.
No worries, that decreased attendance has been offset by higher average ticket prices and lower costs from decreases in labor and "efficiency initiatives.":

    Efficiency initiatives?
    What's that?
    Cutting park hours.
    Less staffing.
Not paying for custodial castmembers to keep the parks clean.
    Turning up the AC.
Selling space to 3rd party vendors.
    $500 Star Wars room decorations.
Lots of empty buildings in the parks.
Ending parades and other entertainment and not replacing it.
    You know, stuff like that.
It makes for a healthy bottom line.
    And that's all that matters.
Get ready for more ticket increases and less stuff to do.
It's working for them so far.

Wouldn't you think that, with AK right on property and, I assume, someone on staff there with some familiarity with the native wildlife of Florida and their habits, at least one of those yellow vested minions would be one of those experts and would be able to advise Disney re. This project and the relative effectiveness in deterring gators?  My guess is that, upon closer inspection, these are the same college aged geniuses you see everywhere carrying clipboards and traveling in tight packs around the property.

I don't even get people who feed seagulls. Who wants those nasty things swooping all around them. And then no one can eat on the beach without them appearing. Do people really think these animals would starve without their assistance? Is the entertainment value really that great?.

    Amen to that.
And while we are at it, if any of you feed the squirrels at the Fort, please don't.
Those damned tree rats have gotten bold, and come up to campsites, and on to picnic tables looking for human food.
There are signs everywhere saying not to do it, but every trip, I see knuckleheads doing it.
    Please don't.
