I can't really think of a particular reason but I've seen speculation that it was only ever supposed to be a temporary thing. If that's true, no idea why it took them more than a decade to remove something "temporary" - but then again... Disney. Well clearly they follow DH's definition of "temporary". When he graduated from college in 1989 he got a job offer in Maryland. It was only going to be a "temporary" move according to him and he would then go back to Nebraska. 12 years, a wife and 2 children later he did leave from that "temporary" spot and though he didn't get to Nebraska he did get within driving distance. I will comment that it looks to me that they are taking their time with this, so maybe you will see it at some point somewhere else. I have seen some rides literally ripped apart before and scraped.
