He said a big concern of his and others is how it will affect the atmosphere at Fort Wilderness. They've been working to minimize the impact since the charm and the feeling of isolation of Fort Wilderness is what makes it so special. Hopefully they will be able to strike the balance. He thinks in the end it will be very nice. I hope so. I also hope that they are (very) careful to preserve the Fort. I do have my doubts though, hopefully I'm wrong. djsamuel

Some new things to look at, but a lot more folks will be running through the Fort. So much nature, removed Oh... and the boat. Do you think this new resort will have it's own water taxi to the MK? I imagine so. On Wednesday night our Boat Captain announced the Fort Marina was going to be REPLACED with a new marina that will be SHARED with Reflections. Makes me sad. Sounds like the Fort is going to have a shared "Lake Walk" area and lose what makes it so unique and precious to us all.

h2odivers...Ray 952
Perhaps this will be a good thing. I’ve heard some complaints about how the Fort is ignored by management and neglected. From freeloaders at the pool and picnic pavilions. Etc. You know they’re not going to ignore a brand new dvc. There will be new restaurants and bars for all to enjoy. Maybe they will build a nice bar, on the water, with rocking chairs on its porch. Maybe a quick service food court and/or an elegant dining restaurant on the roof with a view of the MK fireworks. (Hopefully they’ll have sushi). I’m hoping the new dvc will allow some of us that can’t afford an RV and a stay at the fort a place we can stay and enjoy the fort and all it has to offer. We really enjoyed our stay at WL and enjoyed taking the boat over to the fort. And it would be nice to walk out of our room and enjoy the fort. Just trying to make lemonade out of these lemons! 🍋 😂 djsamuel
djsamuel 322
Latest update I heard is that pile driving will begin soon; starting at 8AM each day. Also, the new development will encroach onto the Settlement area pretty close to the back of Pioneer Hall and Trails End. So I guess it is best to figure that everything west of the back of the Settlement will be changing. Also, there are no plans to relocate Pioneer Hall and Trails End. LOL Seriously, I doubt they'll share a dock. For starters, unless they move it down a good bit, it will be something of a hike from the new resort, not to mention the crowding factor - especially during HDDR times. My money is on separate docks.

This is hard to hear... that green space is such a pretty area. We loved to walk over that way and visit the barn and ponies. Always so peaceful. djsamuel

YENSIDCAMPER 66
Thanks for posting these pictures. I find this topic strangely interesting. Kind of like watching a train wreck. I really hope the access to this resort comes from the Wilderness Lodge area and not through The Fort.
twiceblessed....nacole 433
Hate it...hate it..hate it. I know we've tossed the idea back and forth but... my gut says Disney will get rid of the Fort. They've pushed prices as high as they can go and we all agree, the prices are ridiculous and yes, the Fort is full most of the time HOWEVER: think of the prices on this new resort. What do you think, $250/night+ per room? Waterfront suites will cost what, $1000/night? Then think about how many buildings/rooms they could put on the (Fort's) property? I don't know. I think they've been pushing pricing to capitalize on the RV market and to prepare for further expansion. I mean, this new resort is coming a whole heck of lost closer than I thought it would. I knew they were taking down the BBQ and stables, but I figured that was for solid green space and a buffer of sorts; it doesn't look like that's the case My opinion is that they'll be looking at the Fort's property, within the next 10 years. lightbikes

Think about check-in at the Fort at peak times. I don't think they are going to want to subject the guests of their high dolla resort to that. Much better to have them use the Fort Wilderness lodge bus road for that instead since they park in the back anyway.

They will be building a dedicated entrance road into the new resort a bit west of the Fort Wilderness entrance. I suspect that is why the walking trail is closed at the moment. mommy rainbo.....Bo 41
I saw this one on facebook last night and borrowed it. It shows the loops and how close this is going to be. It makes me wonder if the long term plan is to take what use to be Fort amenities in that area and reassign them to the DVC.
