Another idea would be to "volunteer" at a national forest/state park campground as a host. Every jurisdiction is different, but generally a free site for X number of hours a week.

Old post, but I just saw it (and I think I'm still within the 4 year planning window)
We did almost 3 weeks a few years ago. Here are the highlights/suggestions.Minimize time on Oahu, Do the Arizona memorial and any other "tourist" spot you may be interested in and get the heck off the island. It's a big city with lots of traffic!! If/when we go back Oahu is off the list of places to go. Been there, done that!
Maximize time on the big island and Maui
Look into Vacation Rentals by Owner for places to stay
Save your money and spend it on flying Business/First class - It's a long flight!!
Plan your stays on different islands and book inter-island flights early. For our trip we booked all air about 6 months early. We flew into Oahu, spent 4 days jumped over to the Big Island (it really is a BIG island) for a week, then on to Maui for another week. The flight home was out of Maui. Each inter island flight was about $40 per person because we booked early. The closer to the flight day the more expensive.
Costco in the islands sell liquor!!!! We had a VRBO house on the big island right on the water. First stop out of the airport was Costco for steaks & drinks. Held us for the week.
I probably have never been so scared inmy life as the road to Hana :o

This should be the cry your damned eyes out thread. I remember the first time I clicked on Daves link for the first child they were trying to adopt and thought, oh that's cool Dave is adopting a special needs child and didn't think much more of it. Then when they were denied that child and seeing the disappointment his family endured, it was like I went through it too. I was worried with Anna they'd get the same result and every time Dave would post on facebook or the boards I was hoping he wasn't going to say we didn't get her or another delay. That last trip to Russia had me on edge every day that something was going to happen even after they took her from the orphanage.
Since everybody else kinda spilled their guts and is being softies I might as well admit I went to the SMGG to enjoy fiends and share good times but had Anna not been there I might have backed out. I mean I had to see Bob for Pete's sake all weekend and drink those teribble toasted almonds Carol made me.
OK back to being the snarky attacking mean people we've been accused of being. Thanks for sharing Anna with us Dave. Your family wins the 2011 feel good about being a fiend award.

Bro does look a lot like Gabe in that photo. In fact he looks like other photos I have of lil H as well. There are photos of me that look similar to that as well. We definitely have the family resemblanc thing going on.

Take a deep breath Ed. All of the news networks have their talking head shows. We all know that is the "editorial page" of the programming. They all have their journalistic news as well. Some are just better than others. There can only be one #1. Sorry.

Michael Clemente, the channel’s senior vice president for news stated, “The average consumer certainly knows the difference between the A section of the newspaper and the editorial page,” while also admitting that the majority of what appears on Fox Newsis editorial in content and not news. FOX said it - I didn't. By labeling them selves as News, they are just falsely advertizing there status. It would be like every channel that broadcasts news for a portion of their time labeling themselves as News. ABC News; NBC News; CBS News; Comedy Channel News - at least they are honest about it. Again, you have no idea where I get my quotes from - saying it's from specific organizations is something you can't truthfully say - just like you saying that it was ME that said Fox News isn't News. One more time - I didn't say it , they did.

Nothing wrong with Fox News - as long as you realize it ISN'T News; You don't think every word they say was engraved in stone by a finger; and you balance what you see there with other sources ...

Columbia Harbour House to me is not a Grilled salmon with couscous kinda place. I always think of it as an old seaside inn from early American days. Hence it's location around Liberty Square. Fish, clam chowder...I even get the lobster roll bit. Not that those were common foods of the Revolutionary days, but at least they fit the region.
But salmon and couscous?? I can't picture John Adams and Paul Revere sitting around a Boston tavern debating the merits of succession over plates of couscous. But maybe it's just me...

Camper refrigerators can get full quick. Bring a small 110V mini fridge for extra room. It can go under the camper or under the awning. Some even have keyed locks to prevent the otters from stealing beers.

Don't fret about it.
At this point they don't know where it's going to hit, but all the projections are putting it off the coast of Florida and looks like it will make landfall somewhere in Georgia/South Carolina - if it doesn't fizzle out first.
The worst that will happen will be that you will be evacuated from the Fort and put up at either the All-Star or Port Orleans.
NOAA always hypes up storms and the local TV stations really sensationalize them!!

My spouse owns one, and that thing scoots all over Fort Wilderness and Disney World , rides on all the buses, day in and day out, and we just plug it in to charge every night. We leave it outside the camper also and just cover it with a gas grill cover.

The only downside to the Victory 10 is that it is HEAVY. It is great for going around WDW and using the buses, but NOT GOOD for loading and unloading in your vehicle.

Going to the Fort will be our big trip this year, despite the price of diesel. We figure we don't have too many years left with our grandkids where they will still think we're fun so we don't want to miss out on anything. But, we are not bringing our tow car or our golf cart. We don't need extra transportation while we are at the fort and we can rent a golf cart (off site) cheaper than hauling everything with us.

I am just going to randomly post some photos from my phone. We are having a blast! My Mama wants to stay at least three more weeks! She doesn't even want to go out to eat tomorrow, so we'll probably be cancelling our ADR's for WGP cafe.

I think I did a Dang Good Job of backing that 5er in for the first time!
