Last year we made a trip to the Fort and Disney during Mardi Gras week. That was the second time we had gone during Mardi Gras. The first time was when Mardi Gras coincided with President's day, and what a mistake that was. This year, Mardi Gras again coincided with President's day but my loving wife came up with a plan. School is out in Louisiana for the Monday before and for Fat Tuesday. We pulled the children out of school the remaining three days to go to the Fort. My wife's plan was that this year, lets pull the children out the last three days of the week before, and head home on Fat Tue

Great start to a non-trip report. I am giving a shout out to Troll.....my rant is on: Enough about the "Selfie Sticks"!!!! Those things are out of control at Disney. I hate them!! Especially when they hit me!.....rant off.

The weather was great. A bit chilly at times, but never so cold as to be miserable. Thursday was a bit chilly but we made three rides on Splash Mountain in under an hour, in the front row on all three rides. My son was over joyed, but called it quits after 3 rides, that and I had to get back to get changed for a special supper.

We made the mistake of Mardi Gras with Presidents day in 2012. In looking at the dates this year, Shardi came up with the plan that if the kids were going to miss three days of school, why not miss the last three days the week before Mardi Gras and hopefully beat some of the crowd. Her plan worked Beautifully! We may just do it that way again.

I guess we were lucky. Was there from the 11th to the 16th. Never had a ride problem and everything was working on POTC. Saturday afternoon this was the crowd level at DHS: I do feel that the crowds picked up on Sunday and we had a Fort day on Monday finished by a nice supper at Citricos.

The real monster they created is parking. Since each site is packed with tents, the cars are all parked in the outpost parking/overflow parking lots. It is worse than Halloween night.

They have the 1500 loop and most of the 1600. Most I saw was four tents on one site.

See, I was thinking MK would be open until 3am the 14th. I was going to mess this up again. So Saturday night is the night to stay late?

I can not seem to ever get this right. If the Xtra Magic hours are listed on a date for 1am to 3am, is that for that dates night or for the previous dates night? For instance, this coming Friday, the 13th, the Magic Kingdom closes at 1am. Then it is listed that on Saturday, the 14th, there are Xtra Magic hours from 1am to 3am, and the regular hours show closing at 1am. So the big question, and the one I can never get right, is the Xtra magic hours after midnight for Friday night, or after midnight on Saturday night?? And looking at the forecast, This Friday night is going to be very cold.

My guess is added fire prevention after the fire incident this past year on the mine train coaster. They don't want cindy's castle to go down in flames.

Its been 5 years but if I remember correctly there are at least two choices for each course. It was all fantastic though.

It is a great place but you may have to take out another mortgage on the house to pay for it. That is why it has been almost 5 years since we were there last.

What are the other 13 remaining attractions?

This place is without a doubt the best place I have ever had a meal. Shardi and I celebrated our 15th anniversary there. The first time that I was greeted at the door by name before introducing myself and the wait staff was always asking us by name what we needed. We will be dining there again Thursday of next week for Shardi's 39th Birthday, although it will be a few days late. Kelly, you and Jason have to get there someday. Anyone that loves a BGE, will love the food at V&A.
