Great start to rope drop day! Z can't be tied down to just one lady. He's a young man still. :rofl2: I mean it's not his fault if the princesses can't resist him.....unless he gives them the smolder.

When we left off, we’d just ridden Barnstormer twice without exiting the ride. The next moment made me a little upset… Dumbo was a walk on. I asked Z if he wanted to ride, and he said NO. My boy is to

As always, what a fantastic trip report. I feel like I was there. Still more to come, yes?

Nice set up.  Way to go Z.

Glad you didn't get too far, but you could have purchased more at Walmart if you had.

For a few seconds, I actually considered continuing on and buying shoes later. But I knew we were going to be stopping at public restrooms along the way, so it just seemed easier to go back and get them.

Believe it or not, we left on a camping trip one time and I forgot my OWN shoes.  I was wearing some cheap sandals to pack up, and pulled out in them.  Had to stop at Walmart in the Smokies to buy a cheap pair...which I now keep in the camper.

Ha ha ha! Now I don't feel so bad.

Glad Jason and Rennie were there to help you!  Also glad you weren't far from home when you realized Z had no shoes.

They were great. And I'm just teasing them about not pulling over in the cart. I was following them.

Hey in my defense Jason was driving, blame him on not pulling over I was only guilty by association.

Sure..... (PS- So great to meet you and thanks again!)

Thanks for the picture of your campsite.  I now see that there should be plenty of room behind Curt's pop-up for my screen room.

Can't wait to read more!

No problem! And yes, you should have plenty of room. My site wasn't even one of the biggest partials I saw.

Is the PUP yours?  Way to go Jason and Rennie for helping...it's great to have Fiends!!

Glad you got the 1500 loop.  Yay!   What did you write on the fax??

Just seeing those signs in your post makes me happy.  Is that sad to say?  That seeing pictures of signs, makes me happy? :)

ps.  Your little man is too cute; we need to get together for a local camping trip :)

Not my PUP. Fiends are really the BEST.

On the fax, I just explained that we (including my young child) got very little sleep during our stay on the 2000 loop due to groups being loud at night and early in the morning. I also requested being close to a comfort station but let them know I'd take any site on the 1500 loop over being close to a comfort station on the 2000 loop.

The signs make me happy too: Disney sign, Fort sign, Fiend signs!

We DO need to get together for a local camping trip!!!!

I'm a little late but I'm in!

First, Z has gotten bigger since the last pics I've seen! But he's still such a cutie!

Second, we've done the forgotten shoe thing too. It was not too surprizingly Jodi, who left the house heading to the airport barefooted. Figured it out when we were unloading the suitcases at the SW curbside checkin. Good thing she's got big feet like me.

Looking forward to reading more!

You aren't that late! Z is really getting big. He starts kindergarten this August! I can't believe it.

So this shoe thing is common, huh? I don't feel so bad! :)

Add us to the forgotten shoes club.

I am so happy you got in the 1500 loop especially after your ordeal in the 2000 loop.

Another in the shoe club! I was happy to be in the 1500 loop too.

Tell Z to stop growing.

He did good helping his mama out though!

Nice work Rennie and J.

That was nice of you guys.

Did Rennie greet you with some Yuengling?

It seems to be his signature move. :)

Fiends rock!

Z was a big help getting things unpacked. I love that he can help now. And it makes him feel good to do so.

Rennie didn't give me a Yuengling (probably because I BYOBed), but I did see him drink one. I'm a fan of Yuengling!

At first I thought you were tenting in July way to hot. But I see you had a/c

I like tent camping, but I would not tent in July. I'm crazy, but not that crazy!

Once we got set up and unpacked, it was time to pick up my tickets and Memory Maker. I had chosen will call for the tickets, and my Memory Maker also emailed me and told me I needed to go pick that up.

I tried the ticket window at Pioneer Hall, but they said I needed to go to the MK or another ticket booth. So, Z and I hopped on a boat.

You can see the Poly construction in the distance.

IMG_7421.jpg

Here’s what I found out when I got to the ticket booth…. I didn’t really need to go. Apparently the old Photopass Plus required something to be picked up, but Memory Maker doesn’t. The lady said that they just haven’t changed the emails. Since I made the trip, I decided to get card tickets in addition to the bands because I know some people have had issues.

We rode back to the Fort, and Z wanted to play on his favorite playground.

Mo, his shirt is sending you a message.

IMG_7423.jpg

I decided to have one of these.

Could this day get any better? Yes, it could. We could eat! Usually we get a GAG, but with it only being Z and me, that was WAY too much food. Instead, we got the all white Lone Ranger with 2 breasts and extra cornbread. It was plenty. I actually didn’t need more cornbread.

IMG_7425.jpg

We ate on the porch.

IMG_7426.jpg

Hidden Mickey?

IMG_7427.jpg

Feeding 2 people at Disney for $12 isn’t a bad deal!

IMG_7428.jpg

I was tired, so we headed back to the site. I saw this cart all decked out.

IMG_7429.jpg

After putting Z to bed, I did something I rarely get to do… I sat in silence at my site and read. I had a fan and a glass of wine.

IMG_7430.jpg

It was heavenly.

I didn’t stay up too late though. It had been a long day! And we were hitting the MK for an 8:00 AM rope drop the next morning. I had a crazy idea that we might try to ride the Mine Train at rope drop. Pictures of the new RD procedures at the MK in the next update!

I'm in! I don't think I've ever forgotten to pack shoes but on this last trip, I forgot to pack my bras! All I had was the one I was wearing! How in the world do you forget to pack those? And I didn't realize it until we got to the Florida-Georgia line. Needless to say, I had to shop for some which sucks, because I didn't plan on spending money on that!

As always, Z is adorable! (And so is Jedi!)

2 people eating out for $12 isn't bad ANYWHERE, saying nothing of it being Disney.

Very true!

Bras would also be a problem! Z and Jedi are both super cute. :)

Silence, a glass of wine and a good book. Awesome. Then throw in that it's at the Fort, priceless :)

I read every night in bed, but reading with a glass of wine, outside at the Fort really put it over the top.

The Lone Ranger looked good.

Looking forward to your MK rope drop!

The Lone Ranger was perfect for us. I'd like to call it the mini-GAG

Better 3rd page than never!  I'm in.  Can't wait to hear more.

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!

A litle late to the party, but I'm in! :pc:

Not too late! And it's your 3rd post. I'm honored. And excited you are jumping right in!

Awesome that a Fiend let you use their PUP!   :waycool:   Anytime you guys want to get together local... just let me know!  We're thinking we might do a night or two at Bald Ridge next month.  You won't get me on the boat (unless you're barely moving... I know, silly big fear) but I can watch the kiddos and Tom will join you :)

LOVE the pics!  Just seeing the playground makes me ready for our next trip!  Wish you all were able to join us in October!

Thanks for the info about memory maker. I have ordered it for our trip next week, and got the same info about "picking it up." Am I right that I really don't need to do anything – that it is already on our bands?

Looks like an amazing start to your trip!

Shoes? We don't need no stinkin shoes!

Put me in the never forgot my shoe club.

I did once blow out a flip flop at a Steve miller concert and had to walk around barefoot. Luckily it was in a casino and my wife went the next day to Wally World and bought me new ones.

Z = Adorable

Safe travel = awesome.

J and Rennie = awesome.

Quit time = awesome.

Pictures = awesome.

Sounds about perfect after the great shoe incident....haha.
Good on fiends for helping you setup, and that's awesome Z took care of the bed.

Smart move with the tickets....never hurts to have them with you :)

A great ending to your first day!

It was a perfect ending.

You still could have bot the GAG there were plenty of Fiends there who would have been more then glad to help you. But $12 for two to eat great deal.

Very true. I thought about that, but I think most of you were heading to a park. Next time though!

Let me know what weekend you're thinking. And we can go slow if needed!

Correct, you don't need to pick up anything. I think this change started when the ride photos started being automatically added without a card.

I'm a fan of being barefoot, but you definitely need shoes to go into rest stop bathrooms.

Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you're part of a team!!!

That song. Ugh. Lol

I'm glad someone got that! But yeah, that song is the worst because it gets stuck in my head.

We never ended up needing the hard tickets, but I figured better safe than sorry, especially because Z isn't a big fan of wearing his Magic Band.

I'm in the RV on the way to Tybee. Mom is entertaining Z, so I'm about to write an update....

I've been following along, too, just remiss in checking in.

I must say though, that my first thought, when I saw you had a new trip report was:  "Again, don't you people ever stay home?"

Not that there's anything wrong with that. lol

I would love to abandon DH & head to the Fort with my DD.  I know she would do it in a heartbeat.  Alas, it's a little too far, and way too much $$$ for us now.

Have fun!

I'm a teacher with 2 months off in the summer, and I love to travel. My goal for this summer was to camp as much as possible. I'm doing pretty good... 14 nights at Topsail, 3 nights at Lake Lanier, 6 nights at the Fort, and I'm on my way to spend 9 nights on Tybee Island. Things will slow down after this, but it's been a great summer.

I hope you get to do a trip with just your daughter. It's good bonding time.

It’s July 4th! My plan was to hit MK for rope drop, and then get the heck out. It was a level 10 crowd day, and the MK was not recommended on any planning website. BUT, I knew this day might be our only opportunity this trip to hit RD, and I planned to take advantage of the 8 AM opening.

I’m still a big kid, so I couldn’t really sleep. I have that problem every trip before our first park day. I woke up at 5 AM and just laid there. Finally, I decided to just get up and start getting ready. Z is like me; at Disney, he can get up no problem and is ready to go.

We drove our cart down to the boat dock, and we were the first cart!

IMG_7435.jpg

Pretty sunrise over Bay Lake

IMG_7437.jpg

I asked a CM who was standing there if the MK boat would start running at 7 AM since opening time was 8 AM. He said he didn’t think so. But because of this site, I knew that the Contemporary boat would be running.

And look, here it comes!

IMG_7438.jpg

So we got on that since it’s an easy walk to the MK.

IMG_7439.jpg

We had the boat to ourselves!

IMG_7440.jpg

It was a pretty ride.

IMG_7441.jpg

IMG_7442.jpg

IMG_7443.jpg

We stopped for a picture at the Contemporary.

IMG_7444.jpg

Once we got to the MK, there were people there, but not many. We were the first at one of the former turnstiles.

IMG_7445.jpg

Uh oh! The Brazilians have arrived too.

IMG_7446.jpg

They started getting ready to open the entry at about 7:20 or so.

IMG_7447.jpg

I was able to get in the front. I figured this meant good things for my plan to ride the Mine Train at RD.

This is what the scene looked like at 7:40 AM. You see why you need to get here early?

IMG_7449.jpg

A teen moved to be with his family, and I had a clear shot to the rope.

IMG_7450.jpg

The CMs explained the procedure to everyone, that it would be a slow walk and that people wanting to go to Space should make the first right, people going to the Mine Train should take the second right, and the people for the Frozen sisters had to walk thru the castle.

I really wanted to be on the rope because I was pushing Z in a stroller and knew it would be hard not to hit people with it.

I love this sign.

IMG_7451.jpg

The opening show started. You sacrifice seeing most of the opening show when you are this close to the front, but it’s worth it if you are trying to get to the Frozen sisters or Mine Train. Z was able to stand on his stroller and see that Elsa came in.

There are a few people here.

IMG_7452.jpg

After the countdown, people rushed to the rope. That was all the rushing for the whole experience. And I got to the rope! After that, it was a slow walk to the castle.

IMG_7454.jpg

Some guy by himself kept trying to scoot in front of me. I told him I was on the rope because I didn’t want to hit anyone with the stroller. He didn’t listen, so I hit him, not on purpose but because it was pretty much unavoidable.

We made it!

IMG_7455.jpg

I had to ditch the stroller, or we might have been on the first car.

Someone’s excited!

IMG_7457.jpg

I took this at 8:09 AM.

IMG_7458.jpg

I liked the Mine Train. It’s a short ride but well done. Z liked it too but was not a fan of the witch being at the end. This is the same kid who loves the HM and the 2 mountains he’s tall enough to ride.

Up next, Z has to explain to Ariel why he already has a kiss on his face…
