  1. Thanks for sharing this great trip, and the ride details are very much appreciated. Less liquor = larger portions of food ( for now)
  2. One of the most annoying phrases I heard waaaay back when I was a subcontractor - "Slow down, you don't want to work us all out of a job now do you?". Now I am told this mentality is being overcome by offering "performance bonuses" for each day they finish ahead of schedule. My guess is the 5 weeks ahead of schedule is translating into a heftier paycheck for the contractor.
  3. Would those tents be some kind of an attempt to reserve site for someone else that is checking in? An attempt in making CM's think it was occupied. I know our State park system is First Come First Serve and tents like these are very commonly placed on adjacent sites to "reserve" the site for their friends.
  4. Thanks for sharing. I found the Nomad Lounge on our trip in March, and thought it was a great place, loved the food and drinks, but also realized that in the very near future this place be a mad house.
  5. Tiny House =Yard Barn on wheels. A few years ago on a 4 wheeling expedition into KY, there was a "rooms available sign" and sure enough someone had converted Yard Barns into bunkhouses and they were being rented out on a nightly basis. Someone in our group said that it wouldn't be long before someone attaches axles and wheels to one and starts traveling.
  6. Most awesome check in experience. Faxed our request 5 days in advance. Upon arrival, was greeted with which site do you prefer in your chosen loop or others that are available. Asked about specificsite, no they at boked until later. Used the FF app to determine best site and were given options. Picked a site, and were told " if it doesn't workout here is the front desk number to request another site" . Love our site! Wow! what a different experience than. Ack in the fall. 7. Just spoke to staff at food truck regarding their expiring license on 4/1/17 and their hours. License being renewed this week, hours are "5-9, or whenever the line dies down". Great response.....Not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Although not as creative nor themed based as some folks. I use a plastic sawhorse that was purchased at Lowes for $10. I painted it all black and installed two eyelets in the top, attached with small plastic chain and small caribiners, all bought at Lowes. This folds up very nicely and fits in one of our storage compartments.
  9. Interesting.....I wonder if those same stickers will show up for sale at some point?
  10. Back when they were all beef Hot Dogs, I would look forward to a hot dog from Casey's every trip. This last trip, it was ok, but not the spectacular treat I had looked forward to in the past. DW and DD go straight to MK when we arrive and usually end up with a cup of Casey's corn dog nuggets, these days more for the tradition than the taste I imagine.
  11. I believe everyone should be compensated for their time. With that in mind, have you considered charging for the FF Site App? It seems a lot of effort and time goes into it and over the last couple of weeks I have noticed several references on the Disney Camper Fbook group, and recently on another camp forum. Whether you charge for it or not, Thank You! for the time & effort on such a great app.
  12. Very nice! Love the flag holder. As soon as DW sees this, it will be put on my to do list.
  13. First of all Welcome! I agree with Dave, any campground that you would want to consider for a future visit would be so far off the route.....I assume you would be coming south on I75 which makes the detour over to the PF/Gburg exit that much more out of your way. Definitely worth a visit to the Smokies for camping in the future, just not practical for an overnight visit.
  14. Roberta, Sorry, No trip report. In a nutshell here is why we did not like it: Technically it is not a loop, but rather a one way path that runs parallel to the main road. We were on the road side of the 600 loop and had no room. Our picnic table sat halfway on our site and the back part of the site beside us, it would not fit on the concrete. We normally place our picnic table behind our camper when the site is narrow, in this case the (very busy) walking path was less than 5 feet from the back of our camper, no room for the picnic table. The road that runs through the 600 loop is e
  15. Up until this last trip, I would have agreed there are no bad sites. However our site request from now on will state "anything, but the 600 loop". Big Bear loop is our favorite near the comfort station. We usually just request a range of sites that we prefer.
  16. First, Welcome! There is a ton of useful information here and many folks willing to answer ANY question you may have. Regarding the toll road pricing, we were there in the fall and the pricing was $3 per axle, Truck counted as one axle =$3 and tandem axle trailer counted as two axles = $6, total of $9, to pass through the first toll on 429? turnpike. The exit tolls were $1.50 total. For our next trip we are ordering a SunPass Sticker so that we don't have to mess with the line of paying vehicles. These prices may vary depending on the time of year, but this was our experience in the fall.
  17. The locals want everyone to know that Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville are open for business. Please do not cancel reservations in these two towns, or make plans to go somewhere else. That area survives on tourist dollars and although Gatlinburg was the hardest hit, there are a lot of families that have businesses in all three towns. Even though Gatlinburg is closed, and will be for some time, the other locations have vacancies. I was in Pigeon Forge today and it is business as usual, just without the Christmas shoppers. For those of you who are familiar with the area, below is a link showin
  18. Agree that it is a great CG with great staff and noticeable reinvestment in the amenities. We have stayed several times as well, both in the middle tier and up on the ridge where the tree line is. It is our opinion that mid June to the end of August is a no go for us, as it is HOT. With all of the asphalt absorbing the heat during the day, evenings are still very warm. This is a spring or fall destination for us. It is also an upper end resort, as they do not allow Pop-up campers or hybrids, no tents. Basically anything with fabric is not allowed, solid walls only. If you read their "rule
  19. I agree with everything said above as we also like Anchor Down, with one exception. It is HOT, almost unbearably hot during the summer months. There are only about 12 sites with limited shade and the rest is in an open parking lot surrounded by black asphalt. We have agreed to return for spring or late fall camping as the facilities are very nice and the staff is first class, but we just can't take the heat from May-August. Not bashing the place in any way, just wanted folks to know our experience.
  20. I'm in, as we are also talking about a trip out west.
  21. Tybee Island was my favorite part of our trip to Savannah, mainly because of our dinner at The Crab Shack "where the elite eat in their bare feet". Mrs TN22 would probably say the history walks downtown were her favorite, and our kids favorite were visiting all the candy shops in the downtown square area. This has been several years ago but we look forward to going back soon.
