I scares me for our society when this is even a question that would make a newspaper discussion. Reminds me of the old joke about: Q: would you do this for a million dollars? A: yes. Q: For twenty dollars? A: no, what do you think I am? We settled that, now just haggling over price.

One possiblity is to talk to someone at a local chapter of therapy dogs international. They provide dogs (and other animals) with their owner/trainers opportuinties to visit hospitals, nursing homes, etc to let the patients interact with the dogs for therapy. While what you describe is not really theirfocus, they probably know someone in their group who could work with you. Their dogs are carefully screened and trained. They have local chapters around the country, and there are other similar groups you can find with a search for therapy dogs. http://tdi-dog.org/

The rain never bothers me in the TT, kinda relaxing, but in one campground at the right time of year we had acorns falling all night long. They were loud, and very disconcerting till we figured out what it was!
