    My 2 cents.
It seems like there are two types of CMs at Disney.
Those who work there out of necessity and those who work there because it's Disney.
Ok maybe three types...those work there out of necessity and because it's Disney.
I would only work there if I could be the "because it's Disney" CM.
And I don't want a job in the parks. Unless I was a diver at the Seas.
The reason I don't want to work in the parks is that I'm afraid it would spoil The magic for me.

But that is not the reality.

    Over worked.
Sometimes, but not always. You mostly do the job you were hired to do.

    Horrible working hours.
You know the work hours before you're hired. It's your choice if you want to accept them or not.

Often dealing with disgruntled and/or unruly guests.
It depends on the position, but it's rare. People visiting WDW are there to have a good time and not to give CMs a hard time. It happens, but it's by no means a factor as to whether or not you can be a CM

That is the reality, but it's done in small ways. A smile here, a wave there, a sticker on their chest.

    2) Texas has more crosses, American flags and pro-gun signs/stickers than any other state (and were very friendly).

You pretty much nailed Texas right there in that one sentence.  We love God, our country, hunting, and saying "howdy" to strangers.

I'd like it if they enforced the "must have a licence to drive" rule vs letting kids race around on them like they're toys.

And btw, more often than not when I do see an obviously too young kid driving a cart, it's pretty much always a Disney rental.

The small amount of time, distance, and money saved by using 535 is not enough to offset the driving experience on 429.

They can work the system though.  Last New Years Eve we had reservations at the Wave for lunch.  On December 30th, I checked MyDisneyExperience and noticed that my reservation was gone. I then got my reservation confirmation # and called Disney reservations.  The woman there was very nice.  She looked up my reservation and said, "Well, you had concierge at the Boardwalk cancel your reservations yesterday afternoon."  When I told her I wasn't even at the Boardwalk yesterday she tried calling the restaurant and all they could say was try coming over anyway and hope to get in, the system would not allow them to override the booking.  When I asked how I would get in to park at the hotel without a reservation given it was New Years Eve, I was told that I could try just telling the guard I was hoping to get in.

I immediately managed to find (and book) a reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe and then called the Boardwalk asking for a manager.  After about 15 minutes I got to speak to the operations manager who was extremely nice.  He also pulled up my cancelled reservation and confirmed that concierge cancelled them and he said he was sure it was an accident.  I asked him if it was possible that a person in concierge had someone ask for a reservation there and he cancelled my reservation to make another.  He said he certainly can't say that wasn't the case.  He sounded like he would look into it.  I told him I'm not asking for anything, I just want to know what happened and let him know what could have happened.  So he then took some information, gave me a case number and told me to stop at the Downtown Disney Guest relations and pick up a $50 gift card to pay for my lunch at the Grand.  I was totally shocked and told him that wasn't necessary.  He then told me his "little Disney secret", which is if you are nice and not demanding to them, they will be very nice back because they appreciate it.  To me, this was customer service at its best.

djsamuel reacted to Grumpy and Grandma in DW has a RV question?
OK. I guess it's time to come clean.
For the last 13 years we've been in a MH and in July we went to look at the new SENECA since I am one who does not want a class "A" for numerous reasons. The primary one being I want something between me and the bumper besides the windshield. Well for numerous reasons we did not like any of them. Then we spotted a new FW floorplan from JAYCO and when Grandma walked in her reaction was the same as when she first sat in our current SENECA, "SOLD". So now have an order in for a new JAYCO PINNACLE that we will have for our Jan trip to the FORT. There is a very slim possibility that we will have it for October. We had 2 FW prior to the MH's so it will not be a new experience.
Here is Grandma's new retirement home, but with a lighter material on the furniture.
    http://www.jayco.com/products/fifth-wheels/2015-pinnacle/38flsa/
And to answer your question Ray we've had a wide variety of units, starting with a pop-up and we don't regret any of the purchasess. The biggest reason for the new change is because when we bought the SENECA we knew we would be doing many 2-4 week trips, but never knew we would be doing 3 month trips so the additional space will almost be like home since we only use 4 rooms out of 7 when we are home. As far as getting a MH and towing a car any front wheel drive car is towable with a dolly, so depending on what kind of car you have at home that may be a wash.
The things to really look at are how much space do you need to be comfortable and how long will the trips be in duration and what are you comfortable driving? I have a CDL so it really doesn't matter and Linda has never towed or driven any of them.
And as I said earlier I don't travel much over 350 miles a day and haven't for many, many years, but I have always been fortunate enough to have the vac time (and now we're on permanent vacation) to not have to rush.
Good luck in your decision making.

I have to wonder if Disney is reaching the saturation point with Frozen.  I know people are still going crazy buying the merchandise, but how much do they invest long term?  For example, the other day my wife went in to see American Adventure.  We got there just as the Voices of Liberty were starting.  Part way through the performance, they mentioned that Disney has many well known songs, and they will sing one of them, "Let It Go" from Frozen.  There was an audible groan from the crowd when that was announced.  The Voices of Liberty did a great job with the song, and there was polite applause afterwards, but I have to wonder if Frozen is getting into too many areas; to the point where people are getting tired of the over exposure.

I also wonder how they will integrate Frozen into the World Showcase, yet still be able to maintain the purpose and atmosphere of the World Showcase.  What would be next, a Mulan movie in China, Beauty and the Beast replacing the movie in France?  Replacing the show in the Biergarten with a Snow White sing along?

Time will tell, but I just hope this doesn't change Epcot, which over the last several years seems to be losing their direction, much like Hollywood Studios.

You're close Lou.  Last year my wife volunteered while my daughter, son in law and I ran it.  She got a light jacket/windbreaker (not too bad really) and pretty much a bag of chips.

She worked the finish line, handing out the medals, and she really enjoyed it.  Fortunately, she was able to hand out the medals to all of us.

Were you working? My wife and I spent a few hours walking the World Showcase. While Future World seemed pretty crowded, the people seemed slower than usual moving into the World Showcase. It was a nice day, not too packed in the countries.

And that brings up the liquid sanitizing overhype, what a bunch of baloney.
How in the world did we survive before they brainwashed us into thinking that all of sudden we need to slop that stuff on us 100 times a day? The only ones that benefit are the companies that sell it.
